View Full Version : Have two Heisman winners ever played each other?

Obviously there are several "if's" involved in the premise but if the Sooners end up playing Florida and Sam has been voted the Heisman winner is there any precedent for two Heisman winners playing in the same game? I am pretty certain no Heisman winning QB's have ever gone up opposite one another, espicially in a Championship game.

Didn't Jason White play against USC's Matt Leinhart in that one gwdso?

January 05 Orange Bowl: Matt Leinert, Jason White and the next Heisman winner, Reggie Bush. We, of course, won that game 72-0.

Well, I had a dream that there was a MNC game back in 2005 that had two Heisman winners (although the most recent was undeserving compared to a certain running back whose initials were Adrian Peterson)...but I doubt such a game really happened.

Yes.

Most people around here won't remember this game, but according to NCAA records, Matt Leinert played Jason White. I think it's a typo because that game doesn't ring a bell.

Edit: Wow, I type slow.

Yes and it didn't go well for us. Jason White faced Mitt Lineart in the BCS title game in the orange bowl several years back.

Is it too late to mention the '05 Orange Bowl?

Please excuse me if have somehow managed to misplace all awareness of that game from my long-term memory. In my case I can say that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder has some benefits.

There was no game that you speak of, for that is the game we do not speak of

The hazy recollections in this thread are bringing to mind some repressed memories. I do, however, recall crystal clearly a Shaquille O'Neal coin toss and 80,000 fans united by a common goal: Booing that no-talent coattail-riding slut Ashlee Simpson.

There may have been an eventual 3rd Heisman winner floating around the building somewhere, but my memories are clouded, and that potential trophy probably got lost in the vast, ill-gotten San Diego home of said player's parents.

Until now, I completely overlooked the fact that the 2007 BCS National Championship game had the reigning winner, and an eventual winner square off against each other: Troy Smith and Tim Tebow.

Come to think of it, it could happen twice. Long coaching White, and Heupel coaching Bradford.
