I thought USC's game plan was to come out and hit us in the mouth and we didn't respond like we thought they were going to roll over for Blake Griffin. We had no energy on offense and looked slower than a snail on defense. I was also surprised with Capel's lack of energy on the bench, at least as little as you could tell from the TV shots. If tonight is any indication, that's the way Big 12 teams (Texas) will play us, so Capel's going to have to game-plan for it or we can't go in the 3 point deep freeze. I was totally uncomfortable with our lack of movement tonight away from the ball, almost KS-esque and on defense how we slow we were. If it's wasn't just an off night, then at number 6 we're about 10 spots over-rated.

Obviously we would have liked it to be closer, but a win is a win. USC might be a bunch of thugs but they are pretty talented (Capel said they might be the most talented team we've faced all year) and in March, this win is a win.

Yeah. When the "Sooners" went away for the '89-'90 season, I was glad to see it go, but I'd like to see it back full-time now.

It was also mentioned in another thread that Blake and Crocker brought the flu back from NYC and were probably not playing at 100%. I think it definitely showed in Blake's rebounding... he just wasn't as active on the boards. That and the Timmah can coach the D.

I agree, there was a couple of times we had the lead and a fastbreak and he stops for a 3 every time. Capel needs to tell him to go to the basket on a fastbreak, especially when he is having a bad night shooting.

Without AJ stepping up, we lose that game. That was a hard fought game verses a very good shooting team. It didn't ever seem like they missed a jump shot.

We are going to have some problems this season when teams defend the inside and beg us to shoot. Hopefully AJ, TC, OL, CD, and WW will start consistently knocking down some outside shots so that we can free up the inside and let Blake do his thing.

6 p.m. tip on a weeknight. Most people were stuck in traffic when the game started, but they eventually showed up, and fans in attendance at the game said it was close to being full.

We got the benefit of quite a bit of officiating in that game.

Willie needs to learn when to give up the ball on the break. He had a two on one and waited WAY too long. Ended up throwing the ball away. That'll come.

Our guys seemed to have a lot of trouble fighting through picks and screens or at least switching them. Seemed like every couple of minutes USC'd hit a shot off a little curl off a pick.

That game was a decent learning opportunity for Blake. This is the first game this year he hasn't been able to just physically dominate the opposition.

Anyhow, a win's a win. I'll take it.

If there's less than 20 seconds left in the game and we're nursing a 3 point lead, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT put the ball in the 6'10" guy's who has trouble hitting freebies hands.
