from the site:

"Without question, Texas was the closest of any Big XII team to have an undefeated season. "

Really? Last I checked three teams have 1 loss. Closer? The only thing texas was closer at was going to the holiday bowl.

Well it's true that in their loss, they came the closest to winning.

Of course, if we're going to use "closeness" it's only fair to acknowledge that in at least one of their wins, they came close to losing. They love to mention the "final play" stuff when it comes to Texas Tech, but OSU had a chance to beat Texas in Austin on the final play of the game too.

Way to poll jack.

However, I am still concerned that there is not quite enough urgency concerning the game at hand. Did you all forget my Holiday Bowl rant yesterday? Do I need to issue another edition of "HOLIDAY BOWL, PEOPLE!" to get things back on the right track?

TheHorn conspiracy theory #2 - "Margin of Victory: If you take the combined points scored by OU (against D-1 teams) and compare to UT’s, you’ll find Texas actually wins this battle."

Oh, this is a GOOD one. This one made me laugh SO hard when I first read it, I had to take a quick bathroom break. Ok, so here is TheHorn's theory on why UT's margin of victory is better (not that it matters anyway, because the computers don't account for that anymore):

"Texas: 527 to 223. Or UT won by a multiple of 2.363, meaning if you multiply our opponents score by this multiple, Texas would tie.

OU: 583 to 296. Or OU won by a multiple of 1.970.

The difference in multiple is .393 or stated more understandably, Texas’ Margin of Victory was 20% (.363 divided by 1.970) HIGHER than OU’s.
Keep in mind, that’s against virtually the same level of competition (see point #1)."
Ok, I'll allow anyone who's been through remedial math classes to stop laughing before I turn this argument into Bevo turds.....Ok, now.

Let's start off by discussing multiples. Imagine this were the scenario (just to make the math simple, because clearly UT has problems with math):
UT vs. opponents: 20-15, over 5 games
OU vs. opponents: 30-25, over 5 games
UT would have a multiple of 1.3, OU would have a multiple of 1.2, which makes UT's margin of victory is more impressive, right?....what a second, the margin of victory for both teams is still 5!

This has to be the most moronic argument I've ever heard. Here's the REAL margin of victory:
UT's average score was 43 to 19 for an average MARGIN OF VICTORY of 24 points.
OU's average score was (eliminating the Chattanooga game, as TheHorn likes to do) 53 to 27 for an average MARGIN OF VICTORY of 26 points.

Gee, the OU has the greater MARGIN OF VICTORY, yet OU had the better schedule. Who is the better team?

Oh, but it gets better! OU did its damage in the 1st and 2nd quarters, while UT was piling it on hapless opponents in the 4th quarter.

I was also confused by this:

OVERALL SOS:
From the numbers above, Texas' opponents have the following record: 78-48 or 61.9%.
OU opponents have this record: 73-44 or 62.4%

Which was the end of their first argument. So we have the better SOS...I don't get it. Why do all of their arguments either (a) work in our favor or (b) sound like they are being made by a 5-year old.

And seriously...what is this going to solve?

"Hey, guys I made an internet poll and sending out e-mails and links to go vote on it to show everyone how right we are!" Well, with the State and population of Texas being that much bigger and probably with more fans that feel they got robbed, I will say that this poll will favor in their way. However, it will also go to show how many crybabies there are! So, GOOD JORB!

Are there any more hanging chads out there? The whole thing is ridiculous. Texas whineybags are being enabled by ESPN, Fox & all the other media that want to make news rather than report news. A terrible injustice is being done right now. What balanced reporting would do right now would be to tell the story of how a good OU team that lost a hard fought game Oct 11 turned into an excellent team, much like Florida did after their Mississippi loss. But no, that story isn't being told. That's OK. Stoops will make this "us against the world" think work to his advantage. Watch & see.....
