Master P: Excuse me, Tim Floyd?
http://i.rollingstone.com/assets/rs/3/2042318/images/00280259_lg.jpg
Master P: I know my son sucks at basketball compared to most Div. 1 players but you see...
http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/49/497958.jpg
Master P: I know you're recruiting his best friend Demar, and they come as a package, so if you wanna sign one (even if he'll only stay for one season), you better sign my son too.

Tim Floyd: Whatever you say, boss! Demar DeRozan is mine, beyonces!

It's ma'am today, thank you very much

:P NP posts as himself from his OWN computer except on weekends, tee hee.

I just looked up Lil Romeo's stats. He's played in three of their games, missed a three, missing a free throw, has one rebound and is shooting 1-2 from the floor. It seems he is definitely worth every penny of that full, $44k scholarship.

For more on "that sh*t that's REAL," read the WSJ article here. (http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB120485166974418241.html) Includes fun quote from daddy of a walk-on that probably won't get a scholly now because rich preppy rapper boy stole it!

I think they will be there. Tickets for the student section were sold out this morning already.

I say we score 55 on them in the first half for absolutely no reason at all.

I love that song/video though... One of the few good things Master P ever did. It just gets me so freaking pumped to play Slamball or something...

Students, we are facing an enemy unlike any other - the cheating type. Their blatant disregard for the rules means that you are free to blatantly disregard any pregame reminder that "gracious hospitality and good sportsmanship are University of Oklahoma traditions." These are your primary targets:

Dwight Lewis, No. 21 (Romeo took his No. 15), primary scorer.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0clXeW80O53Tm/340x.jpg
Lewis is one of three regular starting guards at 6'5", 215 lbs out of Louisiana, but was one of the infamous Katrina evacuees to uproot and move to Texas. Averages 16 ppg.

Taj Gibson, No. 22, power forward.
http://www.trojanwire.com/Taj%20Gibson%20Stanford.jpg
Not to be confused with our own Taj, this Taj is 6"9', 225 lbs and is from Brooklyn. He led the team in rebounds and blocks last year and this year is averaging about 3-4 blocks and 11 rebounds per game.

Daniel Hackett, No. 13, guard
http://www.nancarrow-webdesk.com/warehouse/storage2/2007-w48/img.81142_t.jpg
Just described as "guard" at 6'5", 215 lbs, Hackett is originally from Italy - I guess every team trying to be an NBA-like squad needs a European player now. Averages 10 points and 6 assists per game this year.

Demar Derozan, No. 10, one-year wonder
http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-12/43715799.jpg
Demar, shown here getting excited about going 5-2 so far, is the starting shooting guard at 6'6" and 210 lbs. Out of Compton, had his speakers at his presser say how wonderful it was that a kid out of Compton was not a gang banger or a drug dealer. As described earlier, is tied at the waist to BFF Romeo, who would not have received a scholarship if not for his relationship with Demar, but actually considered leaving USC if the OJ Mayo thing didn't turn out well for SC. Is averaging an OMG!!!1! 10 points per game.

These four players have started all seven games (the fifth starter varies) and will likely start versus OU. While this team is not exactly good and nearly lost to San Francisco, you can't forget what school they represent. Let them have it.

That's O. J. Mayo, not DeMar DeRozan.

Ok, try this one instead:

I really don't care - all self-proclaimed co-worker basketball experts around me expect this to be a blowout - I just want us as Sooners to get the beatdown we should have given the Trojans a few years ago. My big dreams for this season stretch far beyond winning a single non-conference game.

I find it amusing that this kid is allegedly a lottery pick... averaging 10 ppg?!?
Oy...

Happens all the time. Hasheem Thabeet was a "lottery" pick if he'd entered last year and he averaged almost 11 and 8. Blake Griffin does that in a half. Same way with the most overrated player of the last five years: Roy Hibbert.

I like my basketball players to be able to do what's important: like score. You can teach defensive principles, but the offensive maestros are truly gifted.

I will see your Roy Hibbert and raise you a Sebastian Telfair :P

Not only was Telfair a lottery pick, but he also squeezed Adidas out for millions as well on his street ball rep alone. He didn't play one second of college ball, but his family ties with Stephon Marbury (which should have been a red flag from the beginning) and his friendship with Lebron James suddenly made him out to be the best baller in the country with a documentary and an SI cover and... bleeehhh.

:D I'm getting off topic (love the avatar, btw). After all the "Little Bow Wow" chants and female visiting point guards with cornrows over the years, I just hope that for anyone out there attending the game tonight, please give them hell. This is not merely another non-conference opponent (although it will be after today), this is a school that watches idly by as their star running back's family gets a new home, their star baller gets $30,000 from an agent's runner and gives a $44k scholarship to a millionaire kid that doesn't need or deserve it. Hell, students. Make their life HELL.

As much as I love to say it, I've been right about Bassy Telfair all along. I followed him, because I follow top-level high school basketball, and, for as sh*tty as he's been in the NBA, he was the opposite in high school. But, even back then, playing Darius Washington (from Memphis) and getting beaten up. He just wilted against grown men who didn't fear him. Couple that with suspect defense and a jumpshot that couldn't hit sand if it fell off of a camel, and he's a recipe for NBA disaster.

He'd have been a decent college player, 'cause he's have gotten to do what he does within a system. Maybe in college, he'd have learned how to be a man, and become one in time to compete AS one, but he didn't go to college, did he? How's Rick Pitino been with getting guards into the NBA, anyway? Decent, right? But, alas, he came out instead of playing for Louisville, and his career... is history.

Sidenote: I was at the practice sessions before the McDonald's AA game when it was in OKC a few years back. They had them at OCU's gym. Anyway, all I could remember was Jordan Farmar, Darius Washington, Shaun Livingston, and JR Smith all making Telfair look like an idiot. He was just a quick little kid that could dribble some, and couldn't shoot a lick. Like a decent ball-handling sixth grader trying to play against high school kids... That's all I could think of when he got drafted. And then I wept, 'cause why the sh*t can't I become an NBA scout?

Sigh.

Well, I guess they got the message. The students were there and the crowd started filling in around 7, damn 6pm tip-off. Everyone sounded loud also.

I especially liked how they continued to boo nut-puncher No. 13 the rest of the game after the incident.

Fortunately for us, Blake has balls of steel

I don't think that was nut puncher, he was ejected. I think it was the guy who flagrantly fouled BG as he was on the 2 on 1 fast break.

Great by the fans non-the-less.
