View Full Version : Damage to a personal vehicle doing company business
My Opinion Matters
12/3/2008, 06:45 PM
I just wanted to get some opinions on this. If a person is using their personal vehicle to conduct company business on company time and damage is inflicted to the vehicle due to a random act (a rock cracking the windshield) is it a company's responsibility to reimburse the costs of the repair? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I think? most insurance companies cover cracked windshields without deductible or increase in premiums. Last time I cracked mine there was no issue at all.

Heh. I figured you just forgot you were on the football forum. :D
And yeah, if you're getting mileage you're probably up a creek. Missiles are a road hazard that can be reasonably assumed.

And if it makes you feel any better, you could have slid through a red light and sideswiped another car this morning.
Like someone on this forum did.
Damn it.

This reminds me to ask a question. If'n you rent a car and it gets a chip in the windshield while renting it do you have to pay for the repair?

Little chip or big honkin' crack?
Also, did you pay for the insurance?
If it's a little chip they probably won't even notice it.
If it's a big honkin' crack, you'll probably have to pay.
Unless you got the insurance.

File a claim with the company. If they pay for the repair, fine. If they don't, file a claim with your insurance company. It ain't worth getting your panties in a twist.
