...and Cal still hasn't been to a Rose Bowl since 1959.

I've been trying to tell people this exact thing, but I couldn't remember what year it happened.

Yall do realize that Texas LOST votes after that happened right? Texas was going to move past Cal unless Cal had a huge swing in votes their way similar to what happened with us and yall this year. Yall were gonna pass us unless something crazy happened. It was the exact same thing then. Mack talking had nothing to do with it. It was math

I've heard numerous people say Mack's "whining" cost UT, or that it backfired, or that it didn't work. Guys... it DID work. They picked up a ton of votes in the coaches' poll and numerous votes in the Harris. It just didn't work well enough. Saying Mack's campaigning didn't work is like saying OSU's offense didn't work on Saturday. Just because the result was in OU's favor doesn't mean that the opponent wasn't partially effective.

I wasn't referring to this year. I was referring to 2004 where Texas lost votes after Mack campaigned for us. The reason Texas passed Fla. is because the game against Southern Miss dropped Cal's SOS enough that it gave Texas enough in the computers. Everyone blamed Mack when it was a forgone conclusion that Texas would pass Cal just as it was this year with you guys passing us despite losing votes. Your SOS gains were too much.

I didn't realize (until I read the article) that the last coaches poll shows how all the coaches vote. Even less of a chance for texas to move past us.

So Mack is too stupid to learn from his mistakes. Is that what you're saying?

It would be easy to tell Mack to STFU, but somebody's gotta speak for Texas, and Lord knows he won't allow some angry teenager to do it, lest we have another Facebooker posting about who's in the White House.

This year it was almost a foregone conclusion that the computer poll would push us ahead of where we were. The only hope Texas had was influencing the two personal polls and it worked...just not enough to overcome the computer polls. Coach's poll we kept #2 by one lousy point...whew. And Harris we dropped.

Well, only one slot and three eligible teams. Two are going to be disappointed. No way around it.
