View Full Version : The polls have gotten out of control

According to ESPN BCS guru Brad Edwards:

Whether you side with Oklahoma or Texas in this debate, it's hard not to be disturbed by what happened in the polls on Nov. 30. Certainly, voters have every right to change their minds from week to week, but in this case, there seemed to be a much larger agenda at work.

In any normal week, there would be no rational explanation for Oklahoma (after winning 61-41 at No. 12 Oklahoma State) and Florida (after winning 45-15 at No. 20 Florida State) to both lose points in the polls and get jumped by a team that had a similar victory margin in a home game against an opponent with a losing record.

I can't disagree.

It's pure insanity, Texas has an inside influence on the voters I'm sure, because they did something similar when they lost to Tech, fell, then rebounded inexplicably.

There is no way a team should beat a highly ranked team on the road by 20 points and fall in the polls, and the same goes for Florida's situation. This is something that makes me even madder about Texas's little 45-35 campaign.

The fact that the ESPN guys are completely supportive of the Texas whining just adds to it.

They even had Flutie on tonight saying that he thought Texas should be in the B12 game, then he went on to say that out of all the 1 loss teams, OU was the best and actually the #1 team in the country. Dur!

This is Texas's whole campaign, "don't vote for the best team, vote based on a game back in October!" What sucks is many voters actually admitted they have no brain of their own, they need ABC and the Family to tell them what to do. If they can't make a decision out of their own football knowledge and judgment what are they doing voting??

Ron Thulan (JOX 930) is a Harris Poll voter and he said last week that this would happen based on talking to others that vote in the poll.

A playoff is the only solution to the poll BS.
