Is Texas going to Kansas City for the CCG? Did SicEm finally get laid? Did we finally hear the words, "My name is Ole Vet, and I have a moonshine problem?"
Just kidding. ;) I didn't follow the board or the media closely, but I did passionately watch the game last night as I enjoyed some Harold's Chicken (any Windy City posters on here...wow. Harold's FTW), trying my best not to grease up the AD away jersey.
ANYWAY...I was visiting relatives in Hyde Park (home base of Barack Obama, for those keeping score), and walked about two blocks to the Ratner Athletics Center to check out the first-ever Heisman Trophy. Thought I'd share the pics with y'all, especially since I feel like my paying homage to the first trophy will help bring the most recent trophy to Norman.

I noticed the base on this trophy is a perfect rectangle, as opposed to the modern trapezoid shape you'll see in the Switzer Center.

It's a little hard to tell, but nowhere on here does it say "Heisman Memorial Trophy." This is officially known as the Downtown Athletic Club Trophy. It wasn't renamed until John Heisman died in 1936, a year later.

The "Western Intercollegiate Conference" is actually the early name of the Big Ten. Notice this volume is fairly thin. Coincidence?

In addition to being the first Heisman winner, Berwanger was also the first overall pick in the first-ever NFL draft. He never played a down of pro football.

109-year-old game ball. The University of Chicago actually has a 4-0 record against Notre Dame. Now that ND is pretty much a glorified D-III school, maybe they should consider scheduling them.

This is actually the police barricade surrounding Barack Obama's house.

For any of you Cold War history buffs, this is the site of the first self-sustaining nuclear reaction, December 2, 1942. This is pretty much the "OU hires Bennie Owen" of the Manhattan Project.
Thanks for reading. If you made it to the end of this post, I hope I made it worth your while.
