If anyone would like to discuss the way the Big XII is run. It is a public number and I am sure they will welcome any constructive input.

Well what do you expect when their head coach has been whining to anyone who will listen all week!!!

I would be angry if I were a Texas fan.....but I'm not. I'm glad Stoops took the approach that he did and not the one that Mack did. Mack has whined and whined and whined some more and got all of ESPN and ABC whining for him too.

Long time lurker, too excited not to post.

Can I play a little devils advocate and ask if we were watching this unfold in a different conference with different teams, which would we pick? I'm not saying we shouldn't go after thrashing tt, just thinking I might have actually voted for the head to head winner. Doesn't matter now. Mack can take his politicing elsewhere.

I was checking out the Dallas Morning News and some articles and the comments by the whiney orange are staggering.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/11/the-big-12-south-winner-is-oklahoma.html

Above is the link, it's got the story and about 100 comments, mostly from whiney orange. It'll take about 15 minutes to read it all, but you'll be laughing like hell before your done. My personal favorite is from "Barry Switzer", at least that's the name used:

You can whine all you want, but had you taken care of business against Tech, you wouldn't be in this situation. This simply came down to strength of schedule. Texas beat Utep, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, and Rice. Not a single team of note... all poor opponents.

OU beat Cincinatti, and TCU, both in the top 13 in the BCS and Cincy is a conference champion. Couple that with the fact that OU far outscored their conference and shared opponents vs Texas, as well as the historic scoring statistics and red zone TD percentage they accomplished all brings us to this point. OU beat the same opponents worse that Texas. Not to mention the amazing finish to the season, scoring more than 60 points in four consecutive games. Texas just picked a bad year to be good only to lose too late in the season.

The Sooners dominated Texas for 3 quarters and then saw their top LB and defensive leader hurt. The game turned in that moment. Had the BCS decided to send Texas, OU fans would have an equal gripe. And say what you want about OU's D. Their offense simply makes up for it.

All Sooner fans can turn turn to their Texas friends and tell them to shut their mouths. The few years Texas won the Red River Rivalry, Texas did not win the conference championship, with the exception of 2005.

Sorry Texas, you are not invited.

And unfortunately, you will probably not have a Heisman this year either.

I guess next year you'll have even more motivation... The Sooners will be waiting.

Bring on the replies ;)

Rumor is that Texas may leave Big 12 and go SEC. They would cancel RRS. Theory is it would extend their recruiting into South East and create better rivalries. That would leave OU in the little 11. Would you guys be glad to see them go?

Texas can't do that without legislative approval, the same reason why Baylor is in the Big 12. Right now, the Aggies have more power positions in state government and the legislature than Whorns. I doubt that it would ever get out of committee.

If they tried to do that, I think it would hurt their national image by making them look like the spoiled brat who took the ball home. I would say the chances are very, very slim and all that talk is nothing but an overreaction to the situation that just happened.

It would also open up Texas for recruiting more by the SEC and make Arkansas a better team like back when Arkansas recruited Texas much better back then because they played in the state much more often. That is one of the reasons for the A&M-UofA game at JerryWorld. Arkansas leaving the SWC may have been a good short term thing but I think overall it hurt them because they had no recruiting base in the SEC other than Louisiana, Texas was their base outside of their home state. If they get to playing multiple games here, it will open the state back up to them.

Link to the source of the rumor?

Cause I don't think the SEC would take a 13th team. And even when Texas was in the SWC and OU was in the Big 8, they still played in Dallas.

I doubt Texas could make that happen, even if they wanted to.

I'm tired of Texas being portrayed as some innocent victim. Here's an idea, how about you beat Tech next year. If any team is getting the shaft, imo, its Tech. They've been treated like a heap of trash, completely thrown out as being any sort of legitimate team despite their similar 11-1 record.
