I'm pretty sure he's talking about a BCS at-large bid. Not for the CCG or the NC, but for a BCS bowl. To answer the question, we just need to be #2 in the Big 12 and highly ranked in the BCS. So whether Tech wins or loses, all we need for an at-large BCS berth is to win vs OSewe

Exactly. Like I said, we'd have a decent chance. Not a great chance, but we'd still be in the race. Think of all of the people who predicted a 3 way tie. Hell, think of the $$$ wasted by Texas fans on the signs and fly overs. They sure as hell assumed there would be a 3 way tie. I hope nobody "assumes" Mizzou will lay down next week, regardless of who they play.

Wow! Tech won without Crabtree. The game does let us know that the OU loss to UT was this season's fluke. Tech is taken to the wire by Baylor in Lubbock. 8-4 Nebraska took Tech to Overtime in Lubbock. But when it played UT, Tech led nearly the whole game and had 200+ more yards of offense. OU "nipped" Tech by scoring more points than Tech had ever given up. It now appears that UT beating OU this year was like K-State and A&M beating the clearly superior Longhorn teams the last two years. Or Stanford beating USC last year. UT is OU's Stanford, K-State and A&M. Good comeback, Tech.

I'm conflicted about the Big 12 issue. I take offense when people say we don't belong in the Big XII especially when they include that nonsense that TCU should have been chosen over us. Be that as it may, the Big 12 south is the toughest division in college football and we're within a few hours of some of the most storied programs in all of college football battling for recruits. We're in a VERY difficult position.

There are times when I think we'd be in a much better position if we played in another conference, but our other sports compete quite well in the Big XII so we'd be sacrificing all of our other sports for the sake of football.

I think the best we can ever really hope for is to be a mid-level Big 12 team with a bowl game at least every other year.

I don't disagree but the 4 Texas schools have been playing each other every year in some cases since Moses was wondering around the desert, so the resistance to such a plan would be unimaginable. I can even see the Texas schools (minus Baylor who I don't think would really care) bolting the conference over that.
