Tech should still be part of this equation. The only reason Tech fell so far is b/c they lost late very badly (a point that OU should not be punished for) and more importantly they have not been in this position before. If OU had lost in 2000 we would have dropped like a rock too. Or look at BC, South Florida or Rutgers in more recent years. Teams like OU and Texas can recover from a loss much more easily in the rankings, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they are tied with OU and Texas and should be accounted for in this debate. This argument, like the Texas argument, ignores certain aspects of the controversy, which is why there is a controversy in the first place.

What is boils down to (to me anyway) is that unless both Tech and OU fold under pressure this weekend, there is no way in hell Texas advances to either championship game.

The horns realize this and so have started this ridiculous campaign to hold signs up during as many games as they can to remind those forgetful voters of who won one game back in October.

That means you have to take into account other factors, such as recent play and overall resume. If we beat OSU, it's simple. Our resume is better than yours, and we are beating people by more points. Average score of an OU game - 53 to 23. Average score of a UT game - 43 to 19. As much as you try to ignore it, we have overall been better than UT.

What's so funny is that Terry Bowden picked UTerus to go to the MNC this year. I have been a critic of Bowden, but I think he gets it. Being a former coach and from a coaching family, I think he understands how coaches think. I have calmed down and came to the conclusion that if we take care of business, we go to KC and Sam gets the Heisman.
