Well according to Mr. Wittlock... yes.

Here's what's more frustrating. Not one of the Big 12's quarterbacks is in the same physical ballpark as Ball State's Nate Davis. It's not close. They can't match his arm, instincts, touch, accuracy, presence, ability to move in the pocket, out of the pocket or make plays when things break down.

They can't match his resume. Getting Ball State to 12-0 under the best circumstances is far more difficult than getting Oklahoma to 11-1. I know Ball State's schedule isn't as difficult as Oklahoma's. I also know Bradford is surrounded by far more talent than Davis.

Don't get me wrong I will give Ball State all the credit in the world because we all agree that getting to 12-0 regardless of who you play is extremely difficult. However, just because you have talent around you doesn't mean they are throwing the ball to themselves or just happen to run a crappy route to get to a crappy pass. Bradford has been money and that also is a difficult task especially when your in the Big XII and not the MAC.

Also I could name quarterbacks in the Big XII who would probably easily match the attributes listed above....
arm: Harrell
instincts: name one
touch: name one
accuracy: Bradford, McCoy
presence: Bradford
ability to move in the pocket: Bradford
out of the pocket: Bradford, McCoy, Booger, Reesing
or make plays when things break down: McCoy, Booger

Yeah, because you know Ball State plays in the toughest division in the toughest conference in football and every week they really have no margin for error.

Oh wait...I was getting them confused with Oklahoma.

That's BS. If Ball State played in the Big 12 South (lets say in place of Baylor) they'd have about 4 division losses (OU, UT, TT, OSU), and perhaps 1-2 more out of the North (Nebbish, KU or Mizzou).

Throw in our non-conference sched and I doubt they'd be bowl eligible.

IowaSooner26,

Jason Whitlock is known around here not for his intelligence but for his pot-stirring ability. He put both I's in Idiot.

Being in the Big 12 means you have a ton of talent going against you too, and you have to do it against much better competition. If a team's talent were responsible for a quarterback's success there'd be a ton more successful NFL quarterbacks then there are now. Even the worst NFL team has more talent than the best college team.

Sometimes I wonder if these pundits lay awake at night trying to think of the stupidest thing they can so they can stir up some controversy and make themselves feel important because people are talking about them.

Yeah I noticed. Some of the time I can agree with him 100% but other times I have to wonder what world he is living in.

Having great wrs, rbs, tes doesn't do you a bit of good unless there is a quality trigger man.If you don't believe me,ask Les Miles

.I'm not sure what this guy's deal is butI think he needs to put down the crackpipe as a first step.

Nate Davis is a damm good quarterback and is probably in the top 5 QB's in the country. That being said...I still take Sam Bradford and the NFL doesn't seem to have any problems with Sam playing with talent

Disagree, read the whole article and I think you will pretty much agree with everything he says. ESPECIALLY about espn.

Its good stuff.

I didn't miss the jist of the article it is just the fact that he makes a ****ty comparison in his rant. I agree that ESPN is crap so I really felt no need to even make mention of them. There are many other comparisons that could be made about overrated quarterbacks, just don't make the comparison to a quarterback that actually deserves the hype.

Jason Whitlock went to Ball State.

I'm not saying he's a homer for them, but I'm guessing he's seen more Ball State games this year than he has OU games... he's just going off of what games he's seen.

That being said, he has totally forgotten that while Bradford is surrounded by better talent, he's also throwing against better talent.

Wow... he slams ESPN pretty hard in that article.

I can't say beans about Nate Davis because I haven't seen him play all year, but I'll be watching him in the MAC championship and hoping he gets a chance to prove it against a bog boy team come bowl season.
