View Full Version : Why isn't OSU favored

UT barely lost to Tech in Lubbock. Hey, playing on the road is difficult. It is a testament to Horn spirit that they were able to hang in there until the final play of the game.

OSU barely lost to UT in Austin. Given the Horn's argument about home field advantage, OSU must be as good as UT. The only difference was the home field advantage.

Tech got creamed in Norman, which shows the power of playing on an opponent's field. Supposedly, HFA is 41 points.

So now OU is playing in Stillwater. If OSU can hang in there against UT in Austin, then they must be pretty damned tough, every bit as good as UT, and would be practically invincible at home.

So why is OU favored in Stillwater?

"Favored" is just the betting crowd and they just saw OU/TT. The last time OSU was on the big stage, they were taking a beating in Lubbock. But you're correct, road games are tough.

"And a stadium only 75 percent full for one of the biggest games in the history of a long-standing rivalry could be one such detail."

Scared of a 3/4 full stadium? Nope, the Sooners aren't and that's exactly what the oddsmakers figure too. Maybe if OSU had a stadium like Texas, and they actually filled it...

But the muck sinks to the bottom. It will be smelly AND noisy down in the toilet bowl in Stoolwater.

I want us scared. Fear used properly is an incentive to not overlook the minimum requirements of your goal.
