I just watched the highlights on Youtube, and that sure sounded like his voice. I was 12 at the time and the only announcer I remember was Brent Musburger, because of the Patrick collins run against Nebraska. Football was so much purer at 12 than at 32.

Wasn't it though? You could root for your team, root against your rivals, and not have to be concerned with style points, SOS, or which conference was the best. In other words, no politics.

Yep, the voice you heard was Leland all right. That was around the time he started doing broadcasting. In other words, he had to quit coaching because he sucked and he began doing something he equally sucks at.

Having watched some of the replay and using my old voice recognition system, I believe it was Roger Twibill on the call and Corso as color. Twibill was really good back in his day. I think he is announcing for the big 10 these days and was a grad from KU.
