Tiebraker solutions

There have been lots of comments n the media how asinine it is that a three way tie is decided by the BCS standings. My question is how do you make it better? The BCS is step 5 in the ways to break the tie. The next step is a coinflip. It may be asinine but what else is there?

well, it could be something along the lines of a points differential in conference games. Oklahoma high schools have this as part of their playoff formula. There is a cap of 15 points per game to discourage running it up; the Big 12 could have a cap of say 40 or so :D ...

If such a step were involved in this years tie-breaking situation, Texas really would be in a world of hurt...
