Too bad the AP doesn't count for anything.

WOW. Razor thin margin there. Makes me nervous for the Coaches poll.

Obviously Mississippi at #25 helps Florida out tremendously. I'm surprised we didn't get 1 or 2 first place votes though (Florida does by the logic that they're destroying good teams...).

I think we'll be good if we beat OSU at Stillwater and Cincinnatti wraps up the Big East. Destroying a 2-loss BCS conference champion and winning back-to-back games against top-10 caliber teams should get us in.

i guess Florida stomping Citadel High school does count for something.

There isn't much reason to have Fla ahead of us. I haven't figured that one out. The SEC is getting a lot of love and I am not sure that they are really all that great. Time will tell.

We could beat them.

Hmm Florida only ahead of us by 26 points though.

It's obvious that the voters are having trouble reconciling us, Texass, and Florida.

Good news is USC still isn't in consideration.

Florida still lost to an unranked team at home, yet ranked ahead of 3 big 12 one loss teams.

Texas Tech only loss is to Oklahoma yet Penn State and USC lost to unranked teams, completely stupid, college football is a ****ing joke.

Boomer.....

Don't worry about the SEC teams. We just have to be in 3rd ahead of Texass and the SEC CG will knock one of the other teams out.

yah i know, but still its a freaking joke how this system works, even if texas gets the nod, its bull **** how tech went down that much.

There seems to be two standards by which most analysts are judging the one-loss teams: 1) Head-to-head, where applicable, and 2) Who's playing well now. What there doesn't seem to be is a whole lot of talk re: to whom the one-loss teams have lost. What frustrates me to no end is the fact that many people (Herbie, specifically) want to apply the "Who's playing well now" standard to Florida, yet then in the near-same-breath apply the "Head-to-head" standard to us vis a vis Texas.

Florida lost to an unranked team at home. We lost to a top five team on a neutral field. Texas lost to a top five (or six) team on that team's field. And Tech lost to a top five team on that team's field.

So, fine...apply head-to-head. All it does is give you the OU/Texas/Tech chaos. And since that doesn't really work, then go to either the "quality loss" barometer, or the "who's playing well now" yardstick. But whatever "metric" you use, you must consistently apply that same metric to each team. This cherry-picking of the metric that works for the team you want to pimp is complete horse****.

Hello friends friends from the classy OU nation. Congrats on the great game last night. No way on this earth should Florida be ranked above OU in the AP. That's outrageous. Good luck the rest of the way. Well... except for maybe one. :)

AP = don't mean sh!t

soonermix
11/23/2008, 01:47 PM
at this stage it doesn't matter.

all that matters is that we are above texas because no matter where they are ranked the fla/bama loser will fall after the sec champ game
so even though they don't really have any say in the bcs the ap poll still might have some lasting influence on other voters

Thanks for your comments, GoTide! But, as stated earlier, AP don't mean ****!

If we take care of business the rest of the way, we're in the Title Game.
Me? I'll be pulling for Bama the rest of the way. I'd like nothing more than an Oklahoma v Alabama matchup in Miami. Tide fans have shown nothing but class in contests against the SOONERS, both in Norman and in Bama.

Roll Tide and BOOMER SOONER!

Why? It's as good a poll as any! And I respect them for not taking part in the joke that is the BCS.

Polls are fine, but they shouldn't be deciding championships. NCAA basketball has it just right.

Keep the AP poll....but give us December Madness!

I agree but its the system we are in so i'm going to say that the AP poll means nothing in the bcs.

and its not as good as poll as any. Harris and coaches are just a little more meaningful then the ap

I can't get excited about the UF thing since it doesn't matter. But their loss to Ole Miss is looking more like a quality loss each week. What is looking more and more suspect is the cred they get for beating LSU and UGA, but no matter. Since we get an evening game on nationally TV again next week against a ranked team, we just have to play to our capabilities. The only thing that would throw a wet blanket on things would be a Baylor upset earlier in the day. (SicEm' - please just go for a "moral" victory :) )

A Oklahoma / Bama Game would Capture the Attention of The College Football World --- ~ ! Even more so than OU vs Florida, Because Bama would be undefeated -- The two most Long time famous programs in College Football going for "The Crystal" --- Now that would get Lots of Press Coverage --Think of all The Press that would get -- Even Lots of old stories about Bud and the Bear would also Re-Surface for that Game....! -- A newspapers man Dream --- JMHO.... :)
