We get 2 shots at each, but I only needed one! :D

Yep, I still have at least a year and a half left.

Studying golden alage will make up my entire thesis, so i'll be keeping after it.

I'll be there during december quite a bit... let me know when you'll be there, we can hit up Gene's for a burger. :D

Wow...5 days in a row sounds kinda rough.

Ours were actually slightly more complex. Our 3 exams were the written ones. One a day (these were the ones you got two shots at. I passed 2 of 3 on my first chance, and had to use the second bullet on one of them). After those were passed, you didn't actually become a PhD candidate until passage of your specialist exam, which was an Oral exam with your committee, and you got one shot at that. (Although I think you could petition for a second shot...)

Anyway, great job! Now go evolve some ****.

don't listen to these clowns. you'll be a hot academic professional jim dandy to the rescue wondering whether you can afford to upgrade beyond basic cable and have everyone else knuckledragging in the world hating on you for being a Leninist in no time.

i had 24 hours per essay, 5 essays over 7 days. i wrote over 120 pages (all documented in APA and MLA style depending on committee member, Froz) in a week. with a 3 hour defense 2 weeks later with your committee.

it's more about attrition than anything. it's like a couple months of prison in terms of prep and the process.
