OU has just landed one of the top rated centers in the nation. The 2009 class is looking amazing. Way to go Capel!

Now all we need is another McDonalds All American to complete the class.

Scout.com has us as the #8 recruiting class in the country. Capel is killing it on the recruiting trail!

He is a big boy from what I read.

Kinda like a Shaq player who just dominates the paint.

The only thing I have heard that is a negative is his conditioning, hopefully he will be able to get in shape.

Isn't his nickname "Tiny?"

According to ESPN, he is the most physically imposing player in the entire class, and OU is #4

Man I am getting so excited for these years to come. Especially because I will be an incoming freshman next fall. Hopefully we are able to keep Capel around for a bit longer. I have a feeling he is going to get snatched up soon.

Him, Lebron, Oden, etc. all look like middle aged men.

What are kids eating these days?

that jeff ****ing capel thread gets funnier everyday.

the first thing i commented on when he was hired was his recruiting abilities. i had seen his vcu teams play and the very first thing i noticed was they had more athletic players than the OU squad.

Gallon? I don't want to burst the bubble, but have you watched the video of him? I don't think he fits OUr system. We want to press and run and Gallon is a big freaking space eater that can sit under the hoop and collect garbage to put in the hoop. I know the guy is rated high, but by watching him on film, I am not that impressed. Hopefully, he will prove me wrong and be a dominating force, BUT he is going to have to work his arse off and get in the shape of his life to contribute IMHO. Go check out the vid of him. If I was 6-8 and collected a weak side rebound with nobody around, I'm pretty sure I would 2-hand jam tha damn thing into eternity, especially when the other guys on the court are all 6-2.

Did you read anything about him, they all talk about how athletic and agile he is for his size, im sure he will have to lose some lbs but he will fit fine from what I saw

You don't think the Lakers had Kareem running, do you? When our '06 women went undefeated in conference, they had Courtney cleaning up all the garbage and making the outlet pass. She couldn't run from the hoop to the free throw line.

You don't need five guys to press and run. What you do need is somebody who relentlessly cleans up the boards and fires the outlet pass. That's what this monster can do.

Undefeated in the conference yes. And to take nothing away from CP3, but this is exactly what Gallon is. How far in THE tourney that counts have the women gotten with CP3?

Not far, but Courtney would die to have the guard talent Gallon will have around him.

The turnover machines on the women's team finally sent me over the edge a couple of years ago. The guard in me just cannot handle such disregard for protecting the basketball. They had a roster littered with upper classmen and still couldn't keep from rifling passes at Courtney's feet.

Remember the last time we had a recruiting class this good?

Sooooo... are we doing everything we can to stay NCAA-legal and keep Capel around? Have we hugged Jeff enough today? Are we cheering louder than we do at football games? Are we set to give him a whopping raise after another successful season? Are we begging Coach K to not retire for another 20 years?

:O Any other ideas?

And if you look over the history of bball, gaurds are more important in womens hoops and big men are more important in mens hoops

Sure.

Letting go of the whole Sampson thing. We have a damn fine coach in Capel.

Listen kid, I bust my hump out there... you tell your old man to try dragging Walton and Lanier up and down the court for forty eight minutes a night!

I disagree. Men's college hoops is a guard game.

Looks like 55 gallon of whipa$$ to me.I trust Capel and Talferro know what they are doing signing him.Bobby Joe Evans had the same build and was a helluva player when healthy.
