View Full Version : Biggest home game in Stoops tenure?

This morning on ESPN’s First Take, it was mentioned that this weekend’s OU/TT game was this season’s biggest game. Given what’s at stake, I tend to agree with that statement.

So, I got to thinking, where does this weekend’s game rank among home games for the Sooners? I’m thinking of games in the Stoops era.

Obviously, it’s not “Game of the Century” caliber, but where does it fit in the history of games since Stoops has been here?

I’m thinking it’s one of the top 2. I’m thinking the other game is the 2000 Nebraska game, we were trying to show the CFB world that we were back, and needed to complete “Red October” with a win over the #1 ranked Huskers.

See the thing about 8timechamps is the only time he ever had an original thought he stole it.

So which of the 2 threads is the biggest? I vote for this one because it's more recent. :D

That's not true.

I "borrowed" it.

This is by far the best, because other than the first post in the thread, the actual topic hasn't been mentioned.

The biggest home game in Stoop's tenure...zerOSU in 2001. We would probably have played Miami in the 2002 Rose Bowl had we won that game.

This has been covered, but reviewing...OSU was 3-7. The hype for that game? Oh, about equal to a "Who's The Boss?" marathon on T.V. Only was big cause we lost. The game itself was not big. Oh, and Miami was much better than us that year. No thanks!

Fail.

The best team does not always win...thus 3-7 beat 9-1.

I think Diet Coke is superior to Diet Dr. Pepper. But only barely.

But, Diet Dr. Pepper has less Caffine then Diet Coke so I have to go with DDP.

Thus 3-7 vs. 9-1 was not even remotely close to being the biggest home game in the Stoops tenure, era or any other word that fits here.

Come on. No one outside of the state of Oklahoma cared about the OU/OSU game in 2001 (well except maybe Texas fans who were needing us to lose).

The entire country is going to be paying attention to this Saturday's game.

Exactly! Fox Game with Joel Myers at the helm vs. GameDay/Kirk and Musburger, etc.
