Somebody on OUr defense is going to have a hell of a game this Saturday. I personally having been waiting for this person to unleash all season long, and I think this Saturday he makes some big plays and raises his draft status.

Nic Harris

Who's your impact player on D this week?

Curly Bill

It needs to be one of the cornerbacks.

Yep, I think Nic will do some damage in the middle of the field.

I think it has gotta be our D Line---anybody know the status of English? If our D Line can put some pressure on Harrell, then we are able to do some things with our backers (blitzes, coverage, etc)....thoughts?

i agree with brian jackson and hope he does well but i really hope its nic covering the middle of the field on all those little slants and zip routes, he has to be huge this week

I don't see us getting any more pressure on Harrell than UT or OSU were able to do. It's because he gets rid of the ball so damn quick. If we blitz, he'll make us pay. I think we just need to get those big mitts in the air and try to knock down some of those middle screens. You hardly ever see any of Harrell's passed knocked down. It's because nobody tries to. If we can knock down a couple...maybe they're game-savers. Either way, it's gotta obstruct his vision downfield. Just my .02.

+1

All year long I have watched Jackson and have been impressed with how far he's come. The kid has scary good potential.

Whomever has the most tackles?

Key to winning this game...TACKLE TACKLE TACKLE!

If we can tackle Tech once they catch the ball, we will be in very good shape.

I agree. I like him...he'll be a star very soon. Let's hope he has a big game vs. tech, we'll need some good DB performances this week.

If the D-Line can get anough pressure on Harrell, the DBs just might come up with some big ints. Graham is a lot like Sam in that he doesn't seem to make bonehead decisions that end up being turnovers. But the right amount of pressure from the D-Line and the right amount of crowd noise could be a great combo.

So who ever forces the most turnovers, wins the game? Fair question.

I tend to think so. I really think both defenses will struggle for most of the game. Sam and Graham are both simply that good.
We have the crowd advantage and we also have a pretty damn good turnover defense...I like our chances. But I'm not going to be overconfident about it. I know Tech is great and I know we're great...ought to be a good game.

Cant let the draw plays kill us

OU-HSV
11/16/2008, 08:07 PM
And we can't jump offsides like we did against texass when the crowd was loud and other times at that. When we hold them to third downs we really need to play disciplined so we can get the ball back to Sam and company

Draws, screens and shuffle passes.

If we can limit those plays, while limiting the YAC, OU will win the game.

The "is Tech that good" thread, I gave my top 5 keys to the game.

I'm thinking some trick plays might be coming out of the bag, for both teams.

We do not need to run any trick plays. In fact, trick plays have such a low percentage of being successful, why even attempt them with our offense?

Now, special teams...as long as re fake a punt or fg away from Gresham's side of the field, we could do.

As far as offensively, we do not need to do flea-flickers, reverse passes, HB passes, or anything of the like. Those kind of plays to me tell me that the coaches have no confidence in their offensive ability to score.

We have been businesslike on offense this entire year...no need to change it now.

That's why Florida is not the top ranked team right now. They didn't realize they could beat Old P!ss with their athletes.

I agree with Nic having a huge game but here's a changer...Dom Franks. He'll most likely be locked up on Crabtree and I think he's probably one of the most physical corners along with Jackson, who can get in Crabtree's face a bit. His strengths are great hands and being very physical so if we can have both guys on him metaphorically "hitting him in the mouth" early, I think it changes things. I can't argue with tackling or B Jackson though either.

Here's a point to go along with the Defensive line argument. OUr D line has to get their hands up if they can't get to Harrell on that play. From watching the highlights of the texass game and osuck, if they D line had their hands up on MANY plays, they would have tipped the ball or batted it down. A few of those on the quick routes across the middle will lead to turnovers that we need. This was a staple of a Mike Stoops D and we've seen a little bit of it this year. Frank Alexander has had a few tips at the line by doing it this year and so has Beal. This could play out huge.

I like Travis Lewis for the best chance at a pick. Pressure by Beal and Alexander causing a tipped ball or an off-target pass bounced off the receiver in the middle. Tough for a CB to get a straight pick off Harrell; he's too smart.

I would love to see Granger or McCoy wreak some havoc in the middle.
Thats how you beat tech, get pressure with your front four

nOOB chiming in. SPECIAL TEAMS! if we make them go 80 instead of 50 or 40 you have a better chance! The running game should be the difference. I'm bettin' the over but you gotta think we play keep away! nebbish used the TOP to keep it close. Of course that's after we put 21-28 on 'em in the first quarter!!!

Up front pressure.
If we can hurry Harrell without having to gamble and bring the house, we'll be just fine.
Game Changer? The Beast: D. Murray has a career day and makes Tech pay with 200 yard total yardage day.

either nic harris, lendy holmes or travis lewis ... i can't decide i never knew travis had 104 tackles... in all honesty if i had to choose it would be nic harris because he hasnt really had a breakout game yet this season and hes due for one... id say he gets an int on harrell maybe even two and that will end up changing the game...

offensively...
demarco will have a great day i think sam will too but for some reason i see demarco and chris combining over 200 plus yards on the ground... and i see demarco running back a kickoff return for a td

easy on that stuff, we want to beat Tech, but we also want Tech 100 % healthy against Baylor.
