I do not believe most of the rest of the world hates us. From knowing people from a number of other countries, I get the impression the feeling is mixed: on the one hand, they admire this country and its power and vastness and generosity; on the other hand, they hold in contempt our consuming nature and our all-you-can-eat excesses. If you go overseas, I guarantee you most folks in other countries like Americans more than people from other countries. Count on it. I get the impression they view us as generous, friendly, and cooperative. OK, maybe fat and way overfed, but still nice people.

Flat Tire Burgers in Edmond (unbelievably, sometimes I DO make it north of NW 63rd) has a burger with salami, grilled ham, swiss and pickles. I'm not saying it is the best topping ever devised for a burger, but it was most tasty.

The best topping for a hamburger is green curry with a bit of kick to it. It is messy, but a hamburger has to be messy and juicy to taste great. French fries dipped in green curry are pretty good too.

I normally go with blue cheese or cottage cheese when I'm in the US.

I think wasabi would be good too, but I haven't tried it yet.

Flat Tire is vastly underrated. Homemade buns, too. The jalapeno one makes me go yum. The 'Hells Kitchen Burger' is my usual. Grilled onions, jalapenos, habanero salsa, pepperjack cheese, and chipotle mayo, FTW!

Pineapple by itself on a burger is not good. Pineapple on top of a burger with American cheese melted over it then topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle and black olive with some ketchup on a toasted sesame bun. I worked at Big Boy restaurants here where I live, me and my buddy would try to come up with new burger creations. And I wondered how I gained 50 pounds. Luckily I've lost 35 of it. (Then again, that was 14 years ago when I gained it, just now lost it). I will never work in another restaurant again. I got too fat. Food was too tempting.

Not to dance on anyone's grave, but I knew Cascata didn't have a long-term future the one and only time I ate there, a few years ago. We stopped on a whim (I'm not sure why I was trolling the Great White North...), on a weekend afternoon. Dressed in jeans, but nice otherwise. No sneakers, no t-shirts. Sport shirts, sweaters. Nice shoes. I would wear the same to most upscale casual restaurants in the metro without thinking twice.

They were about a third full in the dining room, yet made a major production out of seating us in an out-of-the-way corner of the bar. We got the message. Should have left then. After that, the food came out and was far from impressive.

Listen, I know better than to show up at the Coach House without a jacket. Even if I did, I suspect the Coach House would handle things with more tact. They were shooting for a stuffiness that belied the fact that they were pitching fare on par with Zio's, and a decor only slightly nicer.

OK, I am dancing on their grave. Suck it, Cascata.
