formatting sucks

There is a team in the Big XII south with a D worse than ours.

How can TT Defense be 124th in the NCAA? I thought there was only 119 teams.

(2)TEXAS TECH (5)OKLAHOMA
per game NCAA BIG12 per game NCAA BIG12
Total Offense 569.8 yds 2nd 1st 561 yds 3rd 2nd

Their D has been good enough to keep them undefeated. Ours has not. Nuff said.

Am I reading this right?

Total Defense 360.1 yds 124th 2nd 358.8 yds 121th 1st

Tech has given up 360.1 yards per game, ranked 124th nationally and 2nd in the Big XII. OU has given up 358.8 yards per game and ranks 121st nationally, 1st in the Big XII.

Is that right? Does anyone else see what this says about Big XII defense?

the big 12 pass defense is bad... but considering you're going against a great qb week in and out its not too bad... ppl act like there is NO defense period now i recall ou getting ints and causing turnovers in the last few games actually throughout the season... same goes w/ other teams... there is defense its just team have high powered offenses...

I have discussed this issue earlier, but defenses in the B12 play a lot more downs than in other conferences.
In addition to having some of the most prolific offenses in the country - Texas, TT, OSU, KU, Mizzou, etc, - the defenses play a LOT more downs than other defenses across the country.
If the #1 defense in the land has an avereage of 65 plays a game, then their "TOTAL" stats (total yards, total points, etc) should be much better than a defense that plays an average of 80-85 plays per game.
I am not going to do the research, and I am not touting OU's defense as world beaters, but I bet you would be surprised if a few things were laid out:

Average plays per game for a defense
Average yards per play for a defense
Points scored per play

Again, OU is not going to magically move up in to the top 10 defensively looking at these stats, but I would bet they move up dramatically from their current location. The proliferation of offense in the B12 is going to preclude most any B12 defense from the big stage, but in comparison, the defenses are not as bad overall if you consider that they play more downs than other teams/conferences.
