People need to listen to me. While I would love to bring in a guy who is proven I don't think many want to come and run this zone defense we run.
If BV takes a job somewhere as HC you best believe he doesn't run a zone defense unless he just lets his DC bring in his own scheme that happens to be zone.

OU runs a complex zone that offenses have adapted too. Problem is the defense is not gonna change. Bob will just plug in one of his guys to run it that has been here long enough to understand it.

Interesting that the same site's "power rankings" had Sam as the number 1 quarterback, the week FOLLOWING the RRS.

He has since dropped to 3rd.

Edit: KW is 1st as O-coach.

Why not Shipp? If OU doesn't someone else will. Great coach and he is one hell of a recruiter.

why not bob stoops himself? other head coaches run a particular unit; i know he likes the freedom to move from place to place, but he could do it.

Bumpas is a figurehead. That is Patterson's D.

Some are saying Mark Stoops would be high on the list if Mike would let him go. I think I'd like to have someone that has experience with the spread, and recruiting in Texas.

So what you're saying is that Bob (who made his reputation as a defensive coach) is ok with the performance of his defense? I'll hang up and listen. :)

This may be a bit of an outrageous suggestion, but since I know the guy and have seen what he can do, I'd like to throw out Keith Patterson's name from Tulsa.

He coached our team at Ardmore and the guy is INTENSE!

yeah, I'm telling ya that bob stoops, the very guy that made his name as a defensive coordinator, needs to realize that this zone defense needs some major tweeking. Personally I think he tends to be a little too stubborn about changing the defense.

We either need to promote Shipp or hire out of the system.

And what makes you think Stoops isn't about changing his defense if he does hire someone that is not currently in the system?

What about Ron English (Louisville), Bud Foster (VT), Mickey Andrews (FSU), Dick Bumpus (TCU), Mark Stoops (Arizona), Joe Kines (aTm), Manny Diaz (MTSU).

All these guys, minus Diaz which is an up and coming DC, are proven defensive gurus.

Auburn could very likely be having some (more) coaching turnover at the end of their season.
