I think that between our bettering D, our offensive prowess, and the fact that WE ARE OU we will destroy them. I know that's crazy and it should be a shootout but I think Leach and crew are tired and will succumb to our might!

PS...This will be the game we keep our starters in no matter the score. We'll keep hammering them from kickoff to final whistle. We want style points?...this will be the one.

No.

OU -9 means that the Sooners are a 9 point favorite.

The bookies usually allow 3 points to factor in home field advantage, so Vegas thinks we're a touchdown better than the Sand Pirates.

I saw decent portions of Texas Tech vs Texas A&M game, just 4 games ago, and Tech really struggled to beat them. The final score was 43-25, but the final score wasn't indicative of the closeness of the game. They certainly didn't beat up on A&M. Also, going into overtime with Nebraska? What's that all about? I think it says that Tech cannot sustain their recent level of high performance on a week in week out basis. On the other hand, Sooners are a well oiled machine this year, with a defense that is getting better with each game.

Actually the bookies use 3 points as a "general" home field advantage. It varies from location to location.

If I recall correctly OU is a 4 point home field. LSU is 3.5, Florida is 4. But you are correct, generally you can figure 3 points for home field.

A funny thing about the line is that the rest of the media totally ignores what the people who make a living prognosticating college football games know. For the next two weeks tech is going to be promoted as a sure bet to make it to the MNC game. As we've seen before, when teams hear about how great they are long enough they start to feel invincible and ultimately that affects them on the playing field.

On a side note: was anyone surprised at how easily tech moved on state? I thought after watching okie lite control the game in Austin that they'd record a couple of stops against Harrell & Co. but it turned out not to be the case. Sand ags moved through the state defense like they were playing a highschool team. Sure made em look good which is why there's so much hype about them, I suppose.

Another aside: Heard just before the state/tech game that OSU was the second team to play three teams rated in the top 3 in one season. They will have the dubious distinction of being the only team to play four such teams when OU rolls into Stillwater.

still no link?

Cause a guy on insiders posted the same thing and got roasted for no link. You usually don't see lines for games 2 weeks out. That guy was using one sports book that even gave a line for the OSU game. Probably not close to where the real line will be.

I'm with Colley.

1) Lines don't normally come out until the week of the game.

2) That is a HUGE spread against a higher ranked team, even if it is at home.

I don't think people are going to hype Texas Tech in fear that they are going to loose to Oklahoma...

It is BS - and I want to punch Herbstreet

I hope Tech gets all the pub though- this is a huge game and the pundits need to respect an OU victory!

It should be the big 12 south Championship.... Texas Tech should be looked at as far greater than Texas - by beating them and then dismantling Okie Lite...

OU line will open up more than -7 at home against Tech. Vegas took an absolute bath last Saturday when the entire world bet OU -20 thru -28 1/2. There's a ton of early money on OU each week and they're probably getting tired of it.

Bob is 6-2 vs. Leach and 4-0 at home. All of the games at home have been double digit wins 34-24,28-13,60-15,27-13.Granted this is Leach's best team BUT this OU team can score a ton of points on ANYONE and COULD be the best offense OU has ever had.

BTW the scoring average of 51.4 points per game IS the highest in OU's storied history.

I think this is normally the case, but is it different if both teams have a bye week before the game?

Thank you for asking this question. I thought the same thing.

Not exactly. The bookies are predicting that Oklahoma -9 is what it will take to attract an even amount of money on each side of the proposition. They couldn't care less who is better or worse, or who wins or loses.

Of course, I suspect Texas Tech will score at least in the 50's.

But -- No way I see the Techsters beating the Sooners in their back yard.

If this is the true line, it will be interesting to see what it ends up at on game day

My neighbor is a bookie. I called and asked him about the spread and he said there's no official line that he's aware of. Won't be out until 8:00 pm our time on Sunday. He said his best guess would be OU -6.
