Have any of you ever purchased digital photo frames? I was considering buying one as a Christmas gift.

i've never seen the use. if i want to look at a digital picture, i'll pull it up on my computer or have it printed. just my opinion.

I read somewhere that they tend to become festering ooze pits of computer viruses. I don't know how or why, but I'm pretty sure I read that.

How would they have computer viruses if they aren't attached to your computer?

My folks have one with several pictures of their grandchildren that rotate. They seem to like it.

Sorry, can't help with that. But, I imagine the technology is pretty much the same in all of them. Just pick one that looks pretty.

I figure it has a mini OS or something like it, so it knows what is being shown and knows when it is supposed to switch photos.
I heard the same thing about the viruses, i'm kinda skeptical about them.

In short, cool concept at first but most people quit turning it on over time. Helps to update the memory card regularly though.
