Brent V. may be a candidate for the K-State job. Let's hope he is at the top of the list.

While Brent leaving would not make me sad, having it as a distraction in season bugs me. Just look at the past history of that issue for OU assistant coaches. I wish there was a way it could wait until after the season.

You all will be sorry when he is gone. It would be hard for even the best DC to defend the offenses in the Big 12 now a days. OU is #2 in the Big 12 in total defense. #2!

Preaching to the choir my friend...too bad there seem to only be a few members of the choir. Its easy to criticize and I even get frustrated at times, but the explosiveness of the Big 12 Offenses coupled with the fact that Stoops should get just as much if not more criticism for the defense seems to blind some

I bet some would be shocked that Muschamps mighty D is only #4 in the conf, how could that be possible?

Everyone wants to say that the Big 12 offenses are way ahead of the D's! I might agree that the offenses are great! Why can teams like Oswho and CU hold TU and KS to less point totals??? Better players???
I don't think that they have better players, what gives??

Well, I am not a texas fan or horn media member, so I never said he was that great. His Auburn teams always got run over by Georgia, a team now officially known for underachieving.

West Virginia is not a big 12 offense, Boise State is not a big 12 offense, and Oregon is not big 12 offense. BV defense ran up big stats against Chatt, Wash, and baylor, but has gotten handled in the other games. You may defend him and hope he never leaves, but can you honestly say that brent is the best coordinator OU can get? The reality is during the big game his defenses don't show up.

I think K-State is a perfect job for BV.

I don't like the thought of another one of Bob's guys taking a Head Coaching job in the Big XII though.

Brent deserves a shot at HC IMO...I wish it was at Tennessee or some place like that though.

Also...any of you who don't think this guy is HC material...Your wrong. I think he's the kind of guy that rises to the occasion and even a program like Tennessee ought to give him a look.

Its not Venables that needs to go.. Its the scheme.. and that scheme will never change under big Bob.. Hopefully they can change it up

Yep, I hate all the coaching speculation when we are just getting to the good part of the regular season. I've tried to deflect the "fire BV" threads just because I see no constructive reason to even talk about it mid-season. But schools that are basically done and need coaches want to get the jump on each other trying to lure from the schools with small numbers by their BCS rankings. Just part of the deal.

I forgot that the d was absent during both Mizzou games last year and also held OSU to 17. You also know that BSU and WVU were putting up big numbers all season. It's not like they were mediocre offensive teams.

You mean like the 9 WVU scored against Pitt in their last regular season game?

Not the Steelers. Pitt. As in Panthers.

No, I mean like the 66 they scored on #22 UCONN the week before.

Are you talking about the men's or women's hoops team?

Well if Brent holds Tech and OSU to under 35 points, I will issue an apology for this thread; but the disturbing thing is that 35 is the least I see those teams scoring.

Like Bob doesn't get involved in the game planning of bowl games. It's all BV's fault

Pat White was hurt his hand in that game - he tried to return but could barely take the snap and couldn't pass at all. Other than this year, almost all of WVU losses during the Pat White era have been when Pat was hurt. He's an amazing kid. I know we've had some less than stellar games on D, but WVU was a very explosive team last year.

If they score 35 but we win the games, I'll toast Bob and Brent and the rest of the staff.
If we hold them to 10 points, but lose, my beer will taste flat and bitter and my life-force
will wane (at least until dinner).

Hmmm, interesting, sports talk here in Austin seemed certain this mornig that Gary Paterson of TCU would be on top of the list ... even hinting a tenative deal may already exist. Paterson is a Kansas State alum and would be a good hire. Hate to see hiom in the Big-12 ... he's good.

The top D in the conf doesn't even rank in the top 50 in the nation. We won't win #8 until we rank in the top 5 D's in the nation if we do make it to the BCS championship game we would only stand a chance against Penn. St. If we had to play Florida it would be bad news.
