:(

May not have agreed with him on some stuff, but he did a great job of doing "hard" sci-fi in a form that the mass market could consume.

Plus, I really like ER.

Was he done in by velociraptors or the T-Rex?

Ironically enough, anthropogenic climate change. Totally didn't see that coming.

OK, that's in bad taste.

Apparently he's been battling cancer for a while.

Whoa, are you kidding? I had no clue. I liked Crichton. For a high school library that was generally bare of anything actually worth reading after you got past all the classics, Crichton at least kept me busy for a semester or so. He seemed to be a generally interesting fellow and had some cool ideas.

I really enjoyed his writing. The first I read was "Eaters of the Dead" (I think.) Whatever it was, it became the movie, "The 13th Warrior. It was actually a really cool historical novel. His novel about genetic engineering and reasoning and talking animals was pretty cool, too.

"Airframe" and "Prey" were my two favorites of his.

Prey, Sphere, Jurassic Park and Timeline were my Crichton reads. Great talent and will be missed.
