Heh, Oklahoma has the highest % of voters picking McCain right now.

66% for McCain in Oklahoma
65% for McCain in Wyoming

It's only a two election cycle tradition. It wasn't all red in 2000.
You can blame the bastards in Pushmataha county and a couple of others for that....but mainly the bastards in Pushmataha county. I think Bryan county also went blue in 2000.

Oklahoma: has hills and trees

Vermont: has hills and trees

Therefore, Oklahoma and Vermont have hills and trees.

What do I win, Monty?

I don't know how proud you guys should be...

I always thought a little diversity is a good thing, that way you hear differing opinions before making your own.

If I learned anything from my first election as a resident of Oklahoma, it's that:

1. Oklahomans appear to be sore losers.
2. There are a lot of brainwashed conservatives who cover their ears and yell whenever someone with a different opinion than their own starts talking.

That's not to say that describes everyone on this board...just my two cents from what I've observed.

Yes, I'm referring to the polarity in the voting. Largest margin of voters going to each respective candidate.

As for your smug "I'm from somewhere else so let me tell you how backward you are" attitude...

You can suck it.

Horsesh*t. We shouldn't be proud because according to Dingle McNutsackchin, he's made two scientific observations about Oklahomans.

1. Oklahomans appear to be sore losers.

Because the Dems and their media handled the 2000 and 2004 POTUS elections soooooo graciously and ALWAYS gave consideration to GOP ideas:rolleyes:

Have you already forgotten about Pelosi's speech before the failed vote on the bailout? Real classy showing by the top Dem at that point.

Are you 2 years old? Because I seriously would think so. I want you to take a deep breathe...I didn't mean to offend you so badly, and I apologize if I did. I wasn't taking cheap shots, just giving my opinion in a calm manner.

However, I don't think anything I said warrants that type of attitude and harsh words. I've lived in Oklahoma for 5 years now and consider myself an Oklahoman, and was merely stating what I've observed.

BTW, you really come off as childish and you definitely help my first point.

Look, I don't know where you are from, and i don't care. Oklahoma Republicans are sore losers? Are they? Really? In comparison to what?

So, I am guessing in November, 2004, you threw a party to congratulate your Republican friends on their good fortune? Oh? You didn't? What a surprise.

I have lived in Washington, DC mostly since 1995. I have worked in and out of government since then. Mind you, this city is obsessed with politics from sun up to sun down, and then on to mid-night. Like Seattle is obsessed with coffee and the mountains, like Dallas is obsessed with the Cowboys, this town is all politics ALL THE TIME.

And let me tell you one thing. I have never, in my life, ever come upon the bitter and deep seated hatred pointed towards one man and one party in my entire life as I have seen from the Democrat Party over the past eight years. Make no mistake, they hate President Bush and for no other reason than he beat them twice. I can cite examples if you want to get into that, but they are so numerous and so well known it seems of little point to do so.

George W. Bush is not a perfect man, and he has not been a perfect President. Like anyone in the public arena, he is subject to criticism, and in politics that can be, is, and will continue to be quite harsh.

But you think Oklahomans are sore losers? People generally are emotional when losing something they care about. Us poor Okies love the Sooners and love the United States. We don't like to see either lose. We are angry and disappointed when it happens. If that's being a "sore loser" then so be it.

OU_Sooners75
11/6/2008, 06:34 AM
As a Okie by birth and a Republican by choice..I want to say this...

I consider myself a republican. I will always think of myself as one. However, the republican party as a whole has fallen out of touch with this nation and the diversity that comes with it. The conservative values have gone a lot further to the right than ever before. Is it a bad thing? Not necessarily. For my moral values and my standing the republican party is getting too radical, spoiled, and flat out scary.

Are Oklahomans sore losers? Not sore, but they are very, and will always be, passionate about what they love and cherish. And that is Football and the US!

Now, with that said. I have seen and talked to some very hateful and absurd Okies that voted for McCain. As I see it...your voice was used when voting. Your passion continues. But I would appreciate it if the neo-cons of my beloved party would stop acting like jackasses and start acting like Americans since the election is now over. The American people have spoken. The Republicans lost fair and square and for those that cannot take it, please stop talking about politics. It is time for us to stand as one nation again. Support our new President and allow him the necessary time to get into office and see if he can do what he says he can do.

It is patriotic to voice your opinion. It is very unpatriotic to disapprove of a President that has yet taken his oath to lead this nation.

If he fails, we voice our Opinions and our strength by voting. Not by negativity.

And neg me all you want. Say what you wish. But this is the very first election I have ever voted outside of party lines. I did vote for Obama. And Palin was the biggest reason.

Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, abstinence-only education, the Terry Schiavo affair, torture, signing statements, etc had nothing to do with it? About a decade ago the Republicans impeached a guy for a BJ, and then accused him and his wife of premeditated murder, they also spent $15m in public funds on a witchhunt in Arkansas to not come up with a single indictment, so I wouldn't say the Dems have vengeance on lock.

Any time somebody uses the precondition of geographic location as a means of education, I raise an eyebrow, unless the topic is best ways to avoid traffic in DC. George Bush at one point had an 80% approval rating, it takes more than bitterness to drop that to 25%.

I wonder how much time and effort the donks spent trying to even get Bush on that??I am familiar with the concept of perjury, and it doesn't make it right, but it was an overreaction on the part of House Republicans, it cost them in midterms too.

And what is amazing is, even with all that, including the war fatigue, over the top bias in the media, being out-spent 4-1 in swing states, a less than exciting candidate and the worst financial crisis in decades, the GOP only lost by 6%.

I wonder what the donks will do when Dubya is on his ranch and the shine has worn off the Messiah????

The expectations are too high for The One. The bigger they are...Weren't you one of the people claiming mandate after the '04 election? Also, W won't be on the ranch as it's usefulness for photo-ops has passed, he'll be in Highland Park.

I'm not claiming Obama will be a savior, matter of fact, I expect things to get pretty rough without real opposition in Congress and expect Republicans to make gains in 2010, but somehow I doubt I will hear the same screams of "obstruction" when Senate Republicans exercise their Constitutional right to debate under unanimous consent.

A 6pt and 350ish electoral vote win is HUGE considering the political climate and how polarized the electorate is.
