You calling anyone else mediocre is amusing.

It was a disappointing speech, clearly subdued the crowd and canned...just the facts, cheese man...

That's just the first disappointing thing he will do. 0 for 1. so far .

It's only just begun. The slow and methodical reversal and renegging of his promises.

Change? ...you can keep it.

I m not much into politics, but what does his acceptance speech or McCain's speech have to do with anything?

I don't put much stock in canned speeches written days ago by someone else.

Jim Lehrer didn't think it was mediocre- he was literally bawling at the end of it.

But a conservative pointing that out is just a right-wing nut job, right?

If you and jew1818 hurry, you can catch the last red eye flight to Canada.

BUT, since you guys hated his promises...that's good, right? :D

I've gotta say, the one thing I've always liked about the guy was his speechmaking. Reagan-style "It's Morning in America" type stuff. I think that's why he resonated with so many people despite his actual politics. So I will admit to being a little underwhelmed with the acceptance. I was expecting more. He just seemed tired, I guess.

McCain won the speechgiving contest tonight, IMO. But that's certainly of little importance at this point. Oh, well. Turn the page...

Well, in his defense, he was probably freaking the f*ck out, too. :D

All the pressure is off McCain. He probably had the easier job tonight. Not that giving that speech was easy.

I just don't think he wanted to incite the crowd to much. I think he just wanted to keep things low key and not add any more fuel to the fire.

I think it was a brilliant speech.

I also am pretty damned sure that it'll be in High School history books along with other famous American speeches. Anyone wanna make a bet on that?

By the way, I also LOVED McCain's speech. Talk about ALL class. If he had spoken to the American public like that throughout his campaign (and not chosen Falin Palin) this would be an entirely different evening for all of us.

Victory and concession speeches are always canned.
