I respect that, and in the spirit of the thread, I must say McCain bowed out gracefully tonight.

I didn't vote for him, but I have a ton of respect for him. It's obvious he puts country above self and party. One of the classiest concession speeches I've ever heard.

In.
I think he gave the best speech he could. He'll still always have my respect, and I wish him well....I doubt I get to vote for him ever again since he is getting on up there in the age category ;)

He's a good man.

Can't say he ran a particularly strong campaign and his pick of Palin as his Veep nominee really fell flat after about a month.

But he's a good man. And he's right that now's the time to come together and support President-Elect Obama.

I have never, and will never question his character. I may not have agreed with his policies, but I believe whole-heartedly he thought what he was putting forward was what was best for America.

Great man, no doubt.

Personally I've never been a fan of McCain. I voted for him because the other guy was so far from me politically. But I did it grudgingly. 2000 really turned me against him as a politician. But that concession speech was top notch. Statesmanlike. Far more gracious than most stuff you see these days.

Man, I was thinking the very same thing. If he would have given speeches like throughout this campaign, we'd be critiquing Obama's concession right now. Well, that and if he had better vetted his veep choice.

And my Dad's middle name is Joseph but what does that have to do with anything

McCain ran on of the worst campaigns in history. Difficult to tell whether his or doles was more pathetic. Someday pubs will get back on conservative issues, call a duck a duck and learn to friggen communicate.

If you've figured that out at 27 posts, then you're ahead of the game.

This is a great place for reading other people's opinions and for expressing your own. But trite comments (from you or anyone else) about meaningless subjects serves only to inflame and, frankly, make the poster look silly.

That's a tough one. Dole's campaign was just a complete cluster from beginning to end. IMO, McCain's wasn't screwed until the newness of Palin wore off.

I'd vote for either Dole or Perot. Perot could have won if he had not dropped out mid race and came back.
