should make the pokes squirm in their still half empty stadium.

Mike Gundy wouldn't even have a chance at being head coach if he wasn't an alumnus of Pokedom... something Rich Roddy should have taken into consideration when departing WVU.

Gundy OWES Pokedom his success. He would not have been successful this season if it weren't for the undying love of a donor to football and his puppets at the university administration. He won't get that anywhere else.

However, the thought of the inevitable meltdown at OP.com should such a thing happen... picturing that now...

:stunned:

:(

The progression from stunned to sad to mad will be lightning fast... where all of the sudden being a man and 40 is not battle cry, but truly a tirade.

:P Nobody can succeed in the SEC consistently. It's just how that conference works.

Won't happen. Todd Graham is the more likely in-state candidate.

I know you're kidding, but do you think Trooper Taylor is happier where he is now, or do you think he'd like to be where he was last season?

:P You're dodging the question - is Mike Gundy staying at OSU at his alma mater, or do you have any insider's view to suggest that he might be looking to move?

1- Does his pay suck?
2- Does he need a change of scenery after 40 manly years (scuze me, 41) of Stilly?
3- Does he hate Holder, Boone and other OSU leaders?
4- Does being in Stilly hinder recruiting?
5- Are you guys about to be on probation or a postseason ban?

:P Those are the most logical reasons for moving jobs, but certainly I'm open to other reasons for leaving OSU.

Somehow I doubt it's all about money and a bigger job for Gundy. He said this was his New York Yankees job. I don't see him leaving unless/until he's asked to leave.

No inside information here. I have a bad latitude, and they suspect me of being a yankee.

1- Does his pay suck? Comparatively, yes. I think he "only" makes around a million a year, though he'll surely get a raise after this year. But if he were motivated by money primarily, this would not be the season to go looking. Give the economy a few years to turnaround, and surely there will be another SEC vacancy then.

2- Does he need a change of scenery after 40 manly years (scuze me, 41) of Stilly?

I'm sure his time spent in Waco gave him a greater appreciation of Stillwater.

3- Does he hate Holder, Boone and other OSU leaders? I've heard the relationships are good.

4- Does being in Stilly hinder recruiting?

Winning helps recruiting. Period. KU has one a few on the basketball court, and Lawrence, while a fine college town, would seem to have little to offer to big-time basketball recruits.

5- Are you guys about to be on probation or a postseason ban?

Hopefully no, but I'm old enough to remember what happened last time we had a season like this.

:P Those are the most logical reasons for moving jobs, but certainly I'm open to other reasons for leaving OSU.

The inside word I've gotten is that he's waiting for Stoops to step down. Apparently, Gundy's burning desire is to be Cale's boss. ;)

Mike Gundy isn't a head coach. he's sitting over on the bench working with the offense when the defense is on the field.

OSU is a head coachless team.

If Tennessee had any sense at all they would offer to the job to Gary Patterson. He would be a perfect fit. He already plays SEC style football, and with great success. I suspect he's not flashy enough for those doing the hiring though.

I think Patterson is perfect at TCU, some guys are better at that type of program instead of a big program that has had some success and a fanbase that thinks they are more than what they really are....much like Franchione found out. Fran should have stayed at TCU.

Nick Saban has said emphatically that he is happy at Alabama, and has no interest in the head coaching job at Tennessee.

I could barely type that with a straight face.

That's easy to say because Fran was a failure. For every coach that has left a smaller program and failed there's just as many that have succeeded.

Should Nick Saban have stayed at Toledo?
Urban Meyer at Bowling Green?
