Mentions the Sooners quite a bit. Overall, pretty good.

So it also is, then, that the Texas Longhorns earned a similar amount of respect and love from college football fans across the country after their heartstopping loss to Texas Tech. When you're No. 1 in the land, and everyone--particularly in places such as Lubbock, Norman, Tuscaloosa, and State College--wants to see you fall, you're not loved.

After Saturday night, it's impossible not to love the Longhorns with your whole heart and soul.

They lost. Repeat, they lost. When we lost to Boise State, no one gave us an inch of respect, even though we fought back just as hard.

There are no moral victories, only defeats.

man, how many sports determine its champion through a beauty pageant? asinine...Uh D-1 Football?Maybe Juco football, beyond that, nada. Can you imagine college basketball just picking two teams after the conference tourneys to play for the title?Pro football picking two teams after the regular season for THE SUPER BOWL by vote?Baseball voting on the two best teams for THE WORLD SERIES after the 162 game regular season?

The big argument for years by adminisrators was the season is too long, yet has gone from 10 game regular season in the 60's to 12 games now with conference title games and bowl games stretching the season to 14 games. If the season is too long why has it been increased? Also it used to be bowl games were all over on Jan 1 and now games are being played a week or so later. There is something rotten in South Bend indeed.

Any playoff system would be just as arbitrary as the BCS. Were the Giants the best team in the NFL last year? Nope, they happened to win the right combination of games at the end of the season. The BCS is not better or worse than a playoff, it's just different. And it's a lot better than what we had before.

if playoffs are arbitrary, it's MUCH less so. i'd rather have 8 teams play it out than picking 2. and just because it's better than what it was before is no excuse for making it better than what it is now.
