Ridiculously unbelievable that SUC is rated higher than saxeT. The #1 team loses on the road by 6 points in the last second, and SUC loses to an unranked team. Ol' Petey must really have some good knee pads.

I'm guessing it was Bo Pelini, maybe as a sign of respect for his friend and for the domination OU showed over Nebraska.

I don't see why anyone else would make that jump given the top 3 teams all have an actual argument to be #1, where OU doesn't at this point.

All's we have to do is focus on beating them Ag's this week, and hoping TT beats the Ag's of Stoolwater so that when we beat TT there will be a 3 way tie for the Big 12 South going into the last week of play. (OU, TT, ut)

There wouldn't be a better gift for T Boone from the Sooners than celebrating the Big 12 South Championship for us at TBPS.

If OU wins out and Tech only loses to OU...that 3-way tie would be broken by BCS Standings. I THINK we would have the advantage there, but we'll know more later today on that.

Ummmm....Fail. NO WAY that happens.

Although I don't think I realized this:

If OU wins out and Tech drops a 2nd game, we go.

That's a little troubling. I hate relying on other teams, and not COMPLETELY being in the driver's seat. But we should've beaten Texas if we wanted to 100% control our own destiny. Time to be a big Tech fan for the next three weeks.

Sorry guys, but I must be dissident, probably because I am forced to cope with that bastard avatar/sig for the rest of November

Texas deserved to drop and was bound to drop far as soon as the lost for several reasons...

1- You always drop when you lose, it's a fact of poll life.
2- They have played close games recently. Winning by four points over OSU and (cringe) 11 points over OU (end cringe) are not exactly solid victories, especially when UT was trailing most of that game.
3- They looked awful in losing. Style points are not part of the BCS formula, but they are definitely in voter's minds after watching a nationally televised game like last night's.

Texas screwed, hosed, or otherwise effed up the aaaaaaye? Nah. OU, with the exception of one game this year, has looked stellar, perfect and an unquestioned top team in the country. Texas looked downright laughable and ugly last night (admit it, you were laughing at the television screen last night and thinking how ugly burnt orange is. ADMIT IT! haha, you admitted it, tee hee) and nobody is going to vote for them too highly after that travesty.

 Of course, BV should be packing his bags after allowing Nebraska to score 28 points

I think Cincinnati is probably helping us a bit right now, as they received 8 points, and are likely ranked in the top 40. The play West Virginia next weekend. It's going to be tough, but WV is vulnerable this year. The key is Cinci's qb, Pike, staying healthy. Cinci has a lot of talent, and has a legit chance of beating WV. If they beat WV then they move into the top 25, most likely. All other games on Cinci's schedule is winable. If Cinci can get by WV then they have a legit shot of winning the Big East (believe it or not) - Cinci only has one conference loss. If this happens, coupled with if TCU wins out (conference title and top 10 ranking), with us beating other top 25 teams in TT, Okie St and Kansas (or Mizzo), and our only loss being against a top 10 team, it positions us well for good things to happen at end of regular reason and conference games (especially if Bama and/or Penn St falter).

The good thing is we just need Tech to beat OSU next Saturday. Then we can proceed to beat them in Norman. True, we would still need Tech not to lose in their last week, but their last game is Baylor at Lubbock. I don't think Tech is losing that game.

TMcGee86
11/2/2008, 02:15 PM
Polls are always going to be flawed and you just can't look at head to head games.

Otherwise Oregon State would be bitching about not being ahead of USC, and Ole Miss would be bitching about not being ahead of Florida.

Hell, we beat the dogsnot out of a Nebbish team that took TTU to OT in Lubbock, I guess under that same reasoning we should be ranked ahead of TTU?

Whorns are just bitter that the refs couldn't pull this one out for them, despite trying as hard as they could.

And it sucks losing a key defensive star, don't it whorns?

As has been already stated many time what we need is to win and hope that OSU keeps it close with Tech and we beat them both. I love the fact that we have 2 weeks to work on Tech. I pray that Bama gets beat by LSU and Iowa somehow pulls out a win against Penn St.
