With Florida sticking it to the Dawgs, I don't think us beating the bugeaters by 50 would keep them from jumping us.

They will jump us. but

We lost to number 1 team in nation, they lost to an unranked team.

Makes a lot of sense.

Georgia is the most over-rated team in the SEC; they flat out suck and Stafford is about the 40th best QB in college, if that

2 flagrant pass interference calls not made on FL by the officials, resulting in 14 pts for FL. I haven't watched the entire game, but those calls were BIG, and could have had at least a slight demoralizing effect on the Dawgs.

There is always this scenario: Texas Tech wins tonight only to later on lose to OU. Then, OU beats Oklahoma State soundly in Stillwater. That would be 2 top 10/15 opponents. But I still don't think the Gators deserve to jump OU if that happens. The whole losing to an unranked team at home doesn't fly....

We will not be ahead of an undefeated Alabama, Penn State, and Tech. Texas MIGHT take 4 and push us to 5.

MojoRisen

I want Tech rated as high as they can go - they should be ahead of Penn St at #2 but I don't think they jump from 7 to 2...

I would think that beating Tech and Okie St - we would stay ahead of Florida and move past Texas... Tough to tell though Texas was almost a 1000 in the BCS

What about a 2 team playoff system? :texan:

Let's have several postseason tournaments like college basketball? Since you are in favor of a 2 team playoff system, let's have multiple playoff brackets with two teams where the winner is declared a champion of its respective bracket!

:P

I humbly disagree. If the whole season was a playoff, you wouldn't have to speculate whether teams that don't play each other are better (i.e., Florida better than OU? Alabama better than Penn State?) to determine who gets the coveted two top spots in the polls. By definition playoffs eliminate teams that have played each other. Under our current system - the whole season is a beauty contest. Until the BCS championship game, things are not decided on the field (like a playoff), they're decided in the minds of coaches and journalists.

Under a playoff system the season-long best team could lose to a team that gets hot, gets lucky, or gets a call their way. So you see, each has its faults.

Yes, but I think if you have a top-4 BCS playoff, you're getting teams that have had to perform over the entire season to earn that top-4 position. And generally speaking, the top-4 teams at the end of the season have never played each other, so it is difficult to say that the nominal number one team is truly better than the nominal number four team. I would never embrace a basketball style playoff, for the reasons you identify...but I think that to make it into a four team playoff, you have in fact had to survive your own "season is the playoff" gauntlet.

2. Texas Tech
3. Penn State
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. Texass
7. Oklahoma State

There will always be questions about who could beat whom until we do go to a playoff system which I am thinking should be happening this year.
