it's wierd that there is so much talk about USC's chances, yet not much about OU's. Is it because if Texas loses, they may not slip past OU? I still think Alabama will lose (either at LSU or in the SEC Championship game), and I see Texas as upset-prone in Lubbock.

If Texas and 'Bama both lost, wouldn't it clear a spot in the title game for OU?

tommieharris91

It would put Texas Tech undefeated, but also leave OU as the team to beat them.

True...obviously OU would have to win out and beat Tech, but I don't see how OU wouldn't be in the title game if we win out and "Bama and Texas both lose.

Realistically speaking, with the way our defense is playing I don't think we'll win in Stillwater, but a guy can hope...

I think if Texas loses we still need to beat the team that beat them to go ahead of them.

It would be intersting to see if a one loss Big XII and a one loss SEC team could jump an undefeated Penn St. team.

I am rooting for the perennial choke artist Michigan St to find a was to beat them.

it sounds like jumping Penn St. is unlikely. According to Brad Edwards, at least. I have to admit, Penn State has been screwed by going undefeated four times and not getting even a share of a National Title ('68, '69, '73, and '94).

I think Penn State will be out of their league in a Championship game.

Denotes a tie in that particular ranking. OU and Georgia are tied for fourth in the computer averages.

not likely. undefeated teams from bcs conferences always have the inside track over 1 loss teams. although with the big teneleven's showing in titles games and the perception that it is a weak conference the harris voters might decide they'd rather have someone more "deserving". meaning they probably wouldn't want us in either, but maybe techsas, tech, or osu()

i absolutely agree with that. florida, usc, techsas, and georgia would butt rape them, if what i saw against tosu is any indication of their talent.

How many times has the "clear cut" favorite won a BcS title game?

One of these years I'm sure we'll get an undefeated Big 10 team versus an undefeated ACC team (or whatever other conference sucks that year), think of the outrage over that.

good point. the team with the strongest gripe in the BCS era was auburn in 2004. as far as i'm concerned everyone else with a complaint had a loss...once you lose your argument weakens drastically.

Yes, because of the BCS formula, if us and USC go undefeated, i think we definitely beat them out. Their schedule is too weak.

We need Tech to beat UT by atleast 10 and we need to win out...with wins to end the season over TT and OSU im pretty sure that would put us in over UT although no gaurantees

In the first BCS

OU .832 USC .775 or we lead by .057

In the second BCS

OU .827 USC .782 or we lead by .045 AND USC dropped in both polls!

What gets me is why Penn St. jumped from .867 last week to .926 this week and why did we drop from .832 to .827.

In the computers, which loved Penn St this week. The scoring jumped by

A&H 21 - 23
RB 20 - 24
CM 21 - 23
KM 16 - 23
JS 18 - 23
PW 15 -23

With the narrow win of OSU it does not make sense to me why Penn St would jump
from .750 to .920 in the computer polls.

It's because Ohio State's only other loss was to 1-loss USC. Also, most of the computers don't notice margin of victory.

i'm pretty sure most of that is because of the quality of opponent each team played this weekend. penn st. played ohio state and usc played arizona, both of whom are considered better opponents than kansas state.

considering that we play tech and okie state down the stretch i think the computer rankings are actually in our favor.

That's an interesting scenerio and it would drive the poll voters bats. If that happened and USC also won out, my bet would be on USC jumping over us. The polls are weighted heavier than the computers and the voters would not want a re-match nor a team that didn't win their conference. I think the voters would ignore the SOS in that case. I think we would also get jumped if the SEC champ has 1 loss. I just hope our team plays loose and wins out, knowing it will create BCS havoc if they can do it. :D

In this exact scenario there is no way that USC would jump us, we would have wins over two top 10 or 15 teams while they wouldnt have anymore good wins sept for Cali. The team we have to worry about IMO would be Florida if they have 1 loss and win the SEC

No way USC would jump us? I hope you're right, but you have more faith in BCS justice than I do. But I do think any SEC team would jump us if they have 1 loss - that could be any of UF, 'Bama or UGA at this point. I just hope we win out and make all this stuff interesting, but that will be quite the challenge.

watch tcu, they probably wont lose again and are rising fast, couple that in with tech and os who and we will not be denied. even though we were on the short end this year in rrs, who in their right mind wouldnt want to see this game happen again??at least you know you would be getting a quality nc game.

Bottom line, we need Tech to beat texa$$, and preferrably by a big margin. If we were to beat Tech (a team that would have beaten texa$$), and OSU (a team that came darn close on the road), that would get us into the Big XII championship game. No doubt, we should be big TCU fans down the stretch...PSU is in, if they beat a resurgent Iowa team in Iowa City. If they go undefeated, Joe Pa actually deserves this shot. Plus, Oregon State beating SUC REALLY helps their case (especially the way they beat them). The battle is for the other slot... SUC won't have the resume to get in over us. UGA, FLA, texa$$, or even TECH and OSU...The real battle will be for that second spot. If we win out, it will be between us and the UGA/FLA winner (assuming that they beat 'Bama). Our resumes will look similar to theirs. Both will have beaten a quality non-con to get there (UGA- GA Tech; FLA- FSU). What hurts them both is that they lost at home. The Ole Miss loss is equivalent to OUr loss to the Buffs last year. UGA getting pwned at home by 'Bama doesn't help them either. OUr loss to texa$$ was neutral site, and was an epic game...All in all, we need to win out, have TECH beat texa$$ and OSU (both in Lubbock), and have the UGA/FLA winner (hopefully FLA) beat 'Bama in Atlanta. All of these could very well happen.

Outside of the Big 12, what MNC contender would be consistently smoking our pass D? Florida is the the only one I would worry about. Penn St., Alabama, Georgia.....none of them blow me away with their passing game. I would pick us straight up in any of those games. Florida would scare me though.

SUC has done nothing remotely close all season to make me afraid of losing to them. Im certainly not impressed by the tOSU win, nor any other win....or loss hehe. I would be more afraid of Bama than SUC. The thought of losing again to Nick Satan would actually bother me more right now than losing to Carrol again. And that is saying something.
