i didn't get pics of the cops/security guys standing nearby. most people were pretty much ignoring them. they are probably used to seeing them by now...

United Way? Fred and his ilk might have some outwardly non-threatening, ostensibly charitable subsidiary that is on the United Way/Combined Federal Campaign list and gets its share. Then, once the money's in the bank, they do a bit of internal redistribution and presto; millions to make "God Hates..." signs.

It's not as big a stretch as you might think to propose that may be what's going on. Take the time to read the official list of approved entities for your local United Way campaign. Frankly, that's why I stopped contributing to it a few years back.

I strongly disagree with their message! The signs should say "O-State" instead of "K-State."

This same group was going to protest the funeral of a family of eight or so people who died in a house fire in Bardstown, Kentucky, some time last year. This kooky religious group chickened out at the last moment because they found out the area where the fire happened and the funeral route was crime-ridden and there was a very reasonable possibility they would be physically harmed if they came to Bardstown to do their protest.

I don't know, I think they should take up the offers, because they are fundamentalists, and the early Christians had no problem facing danger and death for their faith. Onward, Kooky Kansas Christian Soldiers!

That's what I'm saying. If I lived in their town, I'd get a permit to hold the biggest, most fabulous pride parade ever, and route it right past their church on Sunday morning. I'd get every campy queen in the state of Kansas to lipsync Liza Minelli on a big rainbow float just for them.
