View Full Version : Pokes make it respectable.

I can't believe I'm admitting to this, but I was pulling for the pokes.

Looked like the game was going to get out of hand early, but the pokes made it look respectful. They do in deed have a decent team.

I'll say it again though, Colt McCoy is the reason Texas is number 1. The kid is really amazing. The way he disects a defense, knows when to pull the ball down and run, and being able to deliver a pass when it seems like there is no chance of a completion. We may have to hear the whorns gloat for another year, but players like McCoy are once in a decade type players, and he can't stay forever.

Anyway, now that the game is over, I can go back to giving equal hate to both teams.

Now we have to listen to Aggy Logic- "We only lost by 4, and you lost by 10, so we're still better'n you gooners!"

Also the way he's able to draw a 15 yard penalty at absolutely the right moment.

I didn't see any phantom late hit or roughing calls today. If you're talking about the RR game, I've erased all memories from my brain.

Living away from Oklahoma for 30+ years, I cheer for anything Okie, even oSu. I was hoping they'd win. Hey, they gave up 17 points less than we gave up to tejas

get it right, in all references to the OU-fans-that-never-attended-nor-graduated-from-OU, it's "fairweather fan cheatin' gooners," because not only are they gooners, but they're fairweather fans and they cheat!

If OSU kept ut at 28 points at austin, why couldnt we at Dallas?

I contend that UT intentionally did not score on the goal line so that OSU would have to go the entire field.

They wanted the score to put the game away, but not making it was no bad thing for them. No matter what going for it was the right call. A field goal would have ben stupid as it wouldn't have put the game away and would have given us a chance at a big return.

Without a stupid roughing the passer call in the 3rd the Pokes may have won that game? They had the int on the play.

The call was the right call. Unlike the phantom late hit calls in Dallas.

The Pokies only lost by 4, but Texass had two turnovers in their game, one deep in Okie State's red zone, and they probably should have scored on their last possession, to make it an 11-point game. Comparing scores is usually pointless, anyway. I'll bet the Pokies lose at T-Tech, also.

Also, if Hunter hadn't of fumbled the ball inside the UT 20 during the 1st quarter, the score would have been either 31-28 OSU or 31-31 because UT would have kicked the field goal. OSU very easliy could have won this game. They just couldn't capitalize on the opportunity. And Colt McCoy is good, but what makes him so good is that his receivers don't drop passes. On the other hand, our receivers are good and talented but have a tendency to drop passes here and there when the ball is thrown directly to the hands/numbers. There has been at least a total of 20-30 dropped passes this season from our receivers...........

BOOMER!

Was just reading Bohl's column. Looks like he voted the Aggies ahead of us on his AP ballot. The latest is always the greatest.

Oklahoma State is better than Oklahoma. And that’s why I put the Cowboys ahead of the Sooners on my AP ballot. OSU has a superior kicking game and a much better running attack
What’s with the Oklahoma defense? That’s 111 points in three games. As someone in the press box said, injured linebacker Ryan Reynolds must be the player of the year.http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/bohls/entries/2008/10/26/10_observations_6.html

now im just going off my own observations, but it seems to me that this is the type of passes that colt makes about 90% of the time. They run off the DB's with deep routes and then dump it off underneath the zone to shipley. Colt throws the ball more than ten yards very rarely.

This might be why he throws for 80%

and dammit you're right, its hard to watch.

Those were bad calls. Most people in Austin agree, btw. But Texas scored because the OU defense got tired. If the game had gone on another five minutes, Texas might have had two more TD's.

Scotty
10/27/2008, 02:18 PM
I donno.

I think our D was gonna let you guys score regardless... it was just that your defense stepped up and got stops/ our offense stalled.

not saying our D wasn't tired, because i think the long run showed that they were... I just think that our offense has been our best defense all year. And when our O doesn't score points and keep the ball from the other team, its bad news for the sooners.
