"the" Seer's politics are just marginally left of Atilla the Hun. he also beat me in a tiebreaker in the basketball pick'em one year. the next year i lost on the last day to maybe Shoalzie after a frantic, inspired comeback on the last day. If Miami had won in OT (at Miami) against FSU, i had the trophy.

Agood LSAT score for you, depending on where you want to study, may be 20 points lower than the LSAT goal of someone who wants to enter Harvard Law - where the average LSAT score is in the 170s.

So...I guess your just average Mike.

Dude...that's awesome...Congratulations.

I hope you get to do what you want and what makes you happy.

Good Luck...

WTG Bro!

I've got a really good friend who did his undergrad at Bill and Mary and speaks highly of it. The vast majority of their law school is made up of W&M grads though. Georgetown...I really don't want to go to school in a big city for various reasons. Plus, I'm trying to stay with publics. Taking three years off work is going to cost me a lot of money already-I don't want to couple that with crippling student loan debt.

Just remember, statistically, the vast majority of folks end up practicing within 200 miles of where they went to law skool. You'll understand why after you start school.

Therefore, choose a school near where you want to end up.

Just a reference to the 1980 game. Still holds the record for most combined points scored in regulation (I think). As an example of a high point total, nothing more. It'd be quite a buzzkill for you to be compared to Brent Vunerables on a day that you fired out a 177 on the LSAT, so that was definately not my intent.:D

I'll put it this way, if he does as well in school as that LSAT score portends, he'll be in great position to become a law professor as opposed to practicing. Frankly, knowing Mike, I think that would be right up his alley, and that is not a slam in any way. In fact, it would be nice to have some law professors that had actually been out in the real world to balance the faculties.

See, in law skool it goes like this: "A" students become professors, "B" students become judges, "C" students become millionaires.

The thing about going to a place like that is --other than the job opportunities -- you meet a phenomenal group of people. Her classmates included Rhodes Scholars, guys with PhDs, a college professor on sabbatical, etc. Heck, I was pretty impressed with my classmates in ls, and I went to lowly Washington & Lee (check it out when you visit UVA). It opens you up to prestigious clerkships in the 2d Circuit, and basically opens things up for you that wouldn't be available otherwise.

BTW, salaries for first years at big firms in NY are now over $150k. Yeah, it sucks working for a big firm, but it's not bad for you to do for a couple of years to get you on your feet and to get experience in sophisticated matters.

It must be said, $150K doesn't go very far in NYC. That's about equal to earning $90-100K in the Sooner State and driving into OKC or Tulsa to work from the suburbs.

I think he should go to law school in Hawai'i. Then he'd have both the OCONUS states covered.

It's expensive here, sure, but you can live okay on $150k (and that's pre-bonus). I haven't seen a salary chart in a while, but upper level associates probably make around $300k, and that's decent coin no matter where you are.

The people who really have it sweet pay-wise are associates in the satellite offices at places like Weil Gotshal, which is based in NY, but pays their associates the same nationwide. I knew some Weil associates in Houston and Dallas who were making what their compatriots were in NY, and they lived like kings.

Prolly true if you want to teach, but if not, then it's really not that big of a deal. Tons of OU undergrads at OU Law.

Besides, you can always go somewhere else and get an LL.M or SJD, iff'n you want to be a prof AND wear the really cool hat at graduation.
