Do you still have it?

If not, why not? (show what you have now)

If it isn't "obvious", tell us why it is your favorite?

Mine:

1975 Hurst Olds W30 - 455 Rocket V8, tilt, cruise, swivel seats, reversible seat covers, padded vinyl roof, T-tops, gold wheels, gold trim, raised white letter tires, his/hers Hurst shifter, PosiTrac diff, performance dual exhaust with chrome extentions. 400 HP!

(This is not the same one, this photo shows same model, without T-tops and Hurst hood ornament)
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/7/22568016fullzv0.jpg (http://www.imagehosting.com/)

Got to where it was hard to maintain the extra performance accessories. (T-tops leaked, swivel seat broke, hood ornament kept getting stolen)
Young sailor with wife and child traded it in for a 1983 Sentra.
Shoot me, plsthks.

Oh....here is now, and I do love this vehicle:

Although not the best car, my first car, a **** brown 1979 Cutlass Supreme with Old lady hubcaps, no headliner(after I cut it out because it was falling), wal-mart tape deck, and 260 V-8. It did the Diller to Odell run in 6 min, and was ****ing indestructible.(Lord knows I tried). Any pictures of it are my parents house though.

1972 Ford LTD, big *** engine and enough room for 8. Oh the memories, the back seat was as big as a studio apartment.

Edit: and gas was around $.22 a gallon, couldn't afford the gas or the girls these days!

I don't have any digital pictures, they really didn't have them back then. I had a '72 Monte Carlo just like this one except it had Centerline Convo pro wheels. 402 big block, 2.73 Rear End. Top end was very high. I'm pretty sure I floated the lifters once going from south Purcell to north Purcell exit on I-35 at 2 am. The speedo went to 120 and I wrapped it back pointing at reverse. Ah, those were the days. I'm sure some Ratt was playing the whole time.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/photopost/data/500/P9090021.JPG

Not a bad little car though. I went through the 302, bored it .30 over, 10.5:1 flat topped pistons, installed 351W heads, & a 289 crank. Also put a .471/306 cam & Holly 650 4bbl w/mechanical secondaries. It had a four speed & a 3.00 locker rear end.

It would scoot. We use to sand bag it at Thunder Valley & then race for beer on 10 mile flats & Adkins Hill Rd. I wish I still had it.

That little car could pull the front wheels from a standing stop & won me so much beer--I was proud of her.

I also had a 69 fastback & an 87 GT, but I had much more fun in the II. I never got any respect in it until they saw my tail lights all the way to that little warehouse 3/4 down Adkins Hill Road.

In HS I had one of these VW's. The top wasn't chopped like this one but it was the exact same color and had mags, Flared Fenders, Dual Weber Carbs, A Cam, and Glass Packs.

It hauled *** for a VW...that is.

OH yeah...

Since the engine was modified...you couldn't heat the car with the heat off the engine. It had it's own little gasoline heater that fed off the main gas tank. You had to keep the window cracked as it would roast you if you weren't careful.

Sadly I had it overhauled and it caught fire and burned up later on.

It was a really fun, cool, eyecatcher...

I had a lot of fun with it.

I bought it for $100. :D

I drove the crap out of it too.

There was this place in Tulsa where you could get your car going pretty good and at the top of the hill it leveled out....

You could get anything off the ground there. :D

I got the Pinto 2 1/2 feet off the ground per my friend standing at the top of the hill.

Later I remember I was shifting it so hard I broke the shifter off at the top of the transmission. I took some JB Weld and stuck a Nut Driver in the stub and drove that car until it died. :D

There was a guy who had a maroon Judge that would sit in the Mclure pool parking lot when I would be coming home from school, it was the cover car for Car Craft back in '86...that was a badass mother****er.

If'n I recollect, it had 455 bored .60 over, 12:5 compression, powerglide transmission(it was drag raced)GMC6-71 supercharger, dual 850cfm carbs.
Dana 60 rearend.
Yeah, he could fly.

One day I was coming home, he was sitting there talking to a guy driving a
1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda....but it wasn't stock, noooooo, it was a Keith Black Hemi bored and stroked to 510CI, Lenco 4speed tranny(LIGHTNING SHIFTERS aw yeah!)not too much on specifics except they ran against each other often out at Tulsa raceway.

Da Judge won 10 out of 15 races against him.

The 'Cuda was plum crazy in color, pretty wild ride...even had wheelie bars out back.

My first car was a 1971 Ford Ranchero GT, I also had it at the time that I was at OU. It is similar to the pic off the web (I need to find my old pics and scan them in) except it was all black with the yellow to red reflective stripe. It sat in my parents driveway for a few years before someone made an offer while I lived in Dallas, so it was sold to be redone.

Another favorite was my 1985 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with a 5-speed. It was just a great car. Traded it when I lived in Dallas with about 135K miles. It was the exact color combination as this brochure picture.

Here is my newest car, bought last weekend. It is a 2003 BMW Z4 2.5i, it has been fun with the nice weather. Luckily I made it out of North Austin before the hail hit on Wednesday, it hammered the BMW, Audi, Acura, Lincoln/Mercury and Kia dealerships. Here are some pics from the BMW dealership (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=355977).

Take the red stripe off and this is what my 73 Ranchero looked like, dad painted it metal flake black, damn that thing looked good after going to the car wash.

Not mine, but my "Elite" had a red top, sort of an homage to the Wood Brothers stock cars back in the 1970s.....it sucked gas/power/etc.

Again, not mine, mine was painted again by dad in a 1986 Iroc Camaro blue, it was a graduation gift from him(the Ranchero's motor blew,Elite had transmission issues)and after I got it..slapped on some Moon wheel covers.
Damn that thing got some looks.

Here is a 1994 Corvette 6 speed that I owned from 1997 through 1999 while I lived in Dallas:

And finally....(with videos)...a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am that I take my aggressions out on. I bought it in 2005 while it was still a street car with nice wheels. since then it has become alittle more for the track (although it still passes inspection believe it or not and has AC, power steering, thus its still street legal). Blows most peoples minds. It runs 11.20's all day at the track and thats on pump gas and with AC blowing through my hair on the big end of the track. This thing is the mother of all money pits and if I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't. But it is fun on track days:

I used to have a 1970 Cutlass convertible. It was not nearly in this good of shape, but it was a lot of fun to cruise the highway in.

thanks man! yep, still on the stock coil packs but that may change. I'm getting a slight miss in one of the cylinders right now and I think it might be one of the coil packs getting ready to "give up the ghost". Its been a very long road let me tell ya....

Other details: 408" engine (6.0L iron block with stroker crank), 11.3:1 compression, BIG cam, longtube headers, AFR heads, just about everything really, but the coils packs are still stock, LOL. 12-bolt rear end, 3.73 gears, Lots of BMR stuff for the suspension, Turbo 400 trans, FAST intake,

To choose a favorite from the cars I've owned would be like designating which child you love most, just wouldn't be right.

In highschool I drove a 1963 Ford Galaxy convertible, 390 c.i. w/glass packs, power top, fire engine red and spoked wheel covers. I thought it was a cool ride except that there were kids in my highschool driving new (1969-71) Mustangs, Road Runners, Chargers and Cobras . . .

I owned two different 280-Z's, a '76 (blue w/white seat and door liners) and a '78 (black w/all black interior), both of which were the sexiest, fastest cars I ever owned. The speedometer on the '76 went up to 160 mph (only 140 on the '78) though I tried not to drive much over 90 on the interstate in either of them. I never got a speeding ticket in despite not having a radar detector, which prompted me to label the black one as my stealth car.

My current ride is a 2004 PT Cruiser, turbo model, in fire red. It isn't sexy like the Z's but I love it.

this will be a long one but it is one of the stories that have shaped my life so i feel i must shre it with my peeps ;)

at 39, i have owned far too many cars. I was actually getting rid of them at an alarming rate until recently. I have owned my current 2004 crew cab for a year now and had a 97 silverdao xtended cab for close to 4 years... LOVED that truck and sold it for 500 bucks more than i bought it for. it had 276k miles on it...350 cold air intake, magna flow w/ 3" dual exhaust etc etc blah blah blah....i buy older trucks to put my finishing touches on and i like to think its my choice but my wife likes the big azzed SUVs escalade/expedition/suburban so i let her get her way ;)

In the Army, i took a chance on a 1976 Z and THAT was my love. one of these days ill own another one...

but, without a doubt my favorites are the TWO i owned in high school...

picture this. 1985 chicago. I work my azz off in a greek resteraunt between homework/weight lifting/football practice sessions for a azz hole midget greek who's nickname for me was malaka (which i found out later is loosley translated into "jackoff" ) i save enough money for a 1977 buick regal. i spent 1300 bucks on this car. very nice. power everything and all of the accessories actually worked. but wait, this isnt the car i was loving on. I had my DL for a week and a half when mercedes came out with a new car that had a single windshield wiper... I take one of my freinds home and on the way to my house, it starts raining. i see this mercedes driving next me and im mezmerized. the windshield wiper was poetry in motion. i couldn't help stare at it. next thing i see is brake lights. i slam on the brakes and whip the steering wheel to the left. i slide and slide but come short of hitting the vehicle in front of me. It was a stroke of genius, a brilliant move on my part until... i look out of the drivers side window. incoming!!! a 1972 olds delta 88. i dont think he even hit the brakes. my eyes locked onto his and i knew this would be the last time i drove this car lol...

they towed it out of there and i was on the leather personell carriers once again. the insurance called me and told me they were going to total the car for 1200 bucks. the frame is bent and just too much work. in the meantime, i start driving my dad's girlfriends car. a 1976 black monte carlo. in my later years, i have thought about this in the same manner as if i had inpregnated a girl at 15 or 16 lol...i was stuck with it because of what i did to it. i took this car out to "the cruise" and abused it because it was a huge, ugly monster. it only had a 305 in it so it was underpowered in my opinion and i thought it would be a good idea to do some neutral drops to show off. the tranny only lasted about 4 of those. now i am taking that 1200 dollar check and signing it over to my dad. he paid to have the transmission fixed and gave the rest to his girlfriend. he then tells me the car is my baby. i now have taken a bad situation and made it worse. now i have a car that is in bad shape both engine and body. what to do??? yep. you guessed it. i took my income tax check and money from my 17th birthday and installed the loudest stereo my money could buy. lol

i have a 9 year old car with a nearly bald tire and 3 others that dont match. ford truck hub caps (yes. sexy i know) every body part has at least one spot of rust (which i will adress later)absolutely shredded interior and a cracked windshiled. no heater or air conditioner and very little knowledge of how to fix a car but...i had a 600 dollar stereo system. it was my calling card. I had people at my 20 year reunion last summer laugh at me and say "yeh I remember that hunk of crap but man that thing had a stereo in it."
One of the kids in my class was james hunt...grandson of JB hunt...as in the trucking company. the boy got a 84 vette for his 15th birthday then got a real life tonka toy truck for his 16th birthday and a 87 mustang GT for graduation and he was the talk of the school with his vehicles so i felt honored that both of my vehicles were remembered after all these years.

now from july till november this chevy monte carlo ran like a freaking champ.
but then...
remember i said the heater didnt work? well it turns out its because the leak that i didnt notice in the floorboard of the car was the heater core. i wondered what that smell was. when it ices up outside, i have no defrost inside the car. i park it for a few days and go out to try and start it after a few days, the battery is dead. man. here we go. i replace the battery. won't start. i have no clue whats wrong with this thing so i go to the library and get a repair manual and start troubleshooting. i decide through research, i should check the fuel filter. now, i have no clue what a "good" fuel filter should look like. so i wait till the next paycheck and buy a fuel filter for this car. to be continued...

o did i mention, my dad owns a 1986 buick riviera that runs perfectly, he sells insurance for mutual of omaha and his own company, doesn't know sheite about cars, its now december and i am working with a set of screw drivers, a pair of vise grips and a pair of pliers ?

Jello Biafra
3/31/2009, 10:55 AM
now, i have a check in hand, i go to the parts store and buy a fuel filter. i install it and nothing cant get it to start so i go buy ether. man that was fun lol...still couldnt keep it running. i decide its the fuel pump. i spent 20 or so bucks on the fuel filter and ether and after a few days of not getting the car to run and beer runs with the boys, im broke again. i finally get the money to replace the fuel pump and we are well into the winter months now...picture 30 degrees during the day well into the teens at night i have the hood open a tarp (that i borrowed) duct taped to the hood and boxes shoved under the car to stop the wind and a drop light ran to the curb all the way from the house so i can work in "relative" comfort. after two days, i finally get the fueld pump installed. (ever tried installing a fuel pump to the side of an engine block with vise grips? good times) now remember, im broke and prolly drunk so when i get the fuel pump in and try to start it, can't keep it running. i finally give up and have it towed to a garage. turns out, the fuel line was frozen... yay me. ok so the fuel line is thawed and jimbo learns a very big lesson. from there on out, I never went into a freeze with half a tank of gas or some kind of water dryer in the tank from there on out.
now im jamming again... beastie boys come out with the liscesed to ill album now im tearing up the roads with the beasties in tow...the heater core ahhhhh the heater core. remember the reason the car went down in the first place? yeh driving to school one cold morning, the car over heats. i pull into my buddy's driveway with steam rising from under the hood. i open the hood and being the dumbass i was, i kep the engine running because everyone knows you keep the engine running if you open the radiator right? well, apparently there wasn't much water in the radiator. it blew right in my face backwards i fell and it felt good....o so good....that snow....ahhh the snow felt sooooo good. i drove all the way to the hospital with the window down and my face sticking out of it. that was probably the most pleasant feeling in the world. like a dog i was. agnostic front blaring, face blistered and burning and my freinds with me in the car laughing their arses off. ahhh *wipes tears* good times.

part III next ;)

The only "car" I've ever owned (me, not my wife) was a 1963 Mercury Comet station wagon. 6-cylinder, 3-on-the-tree. That car got more air time and did more power slides and donuts than the General Lee.

I like hot rods, and spent my youth hanging out at the drag strip, but I've never owned one.

ok. so, forward three days... there i am at the mall (20 miles north of my house), blister cream on my mug, 45 minutes from the beggining of track practice...(threw the shot)already been late to practice 3 times early in the season. we (keep in mind, 76 monte carlo, LARGE front end and a trunk big enough to place a small vietnamese family in.) have to get there. we all jump in and run that car about as hard as it would go at times i know i was doing in excess of 90. that couldn't be good on that bald tire lol. mark goodsman, who is now a regional director for the indianapolis mcdonalds chain and a graduate of macdonalds U, whom happens to be hung like a small rodent and has the bladder to match has "to go". we pull over at some obscure resteraunt becasue he just refuses to go outside. i learned the next biggest lesson in my short life... on a trip, never turn the vehicle off. still to this day, if im driving anywhere of any distance, i never turn the vehicle off. never. turn. it off. not until i have arrived where im going.

i get back in to start the vehicle. CLICK. temperature guage is way up so now im sweating bullets. one of the locals with a dog of some sort on the back deck says "sounds like the solenoid" one of my freinds who thinks he's a freaking commedian says "avoid the noid?!?" i said "shut up dude. this dude could cut us, stick us in the ground and then sell our sorry asses as beef jerkey" (having just watched motel hell)

dude gets out a tire iron i grab for my bat thinking we're getting ready to get a beat down. he climbs under the car and taps on something 4 or 5 times. he says "crank er up" she roars to life. we thank him and off we go. turns out, when ever the engine on this very angry machine gets hot the solenoid locks up... i never fixed this particular problem. we made it with very little time left. phew!!! those extra 2 laps we would have had to run was sure worth all the life risking and mark not pissing on himself.

next semester, i go into a shop class which includes body repair. YES!!! im gonna make this an awesome cruise now.

turns out body repair was not in my cards. at all. i did weld and sand and sand and weld. the car actually left the shop class with less metal than it came in with and more rust. I actually burned holes in the fender and i told everyone it was for aerodynamics... whatever. they bought it. at least to my face they did.
one day, marks parents went out of town and we decided to use their garage as a monster garage type setup. the "tuna boat" lost the white bench seat across the front and gained 2 1971 camaro bucket seats given to me by a kid who always wore a "the cramps" tshirt (R.I.P LUX) who ironically, ended up owning the tuna boat. the seats were too low to actually use the current set up and the hole didnt match so, we drilled holes in the floor all the way through 8 blocks of 2x4s. classic white trash setup.

the comedy involved is the randomness (word?) of thoughts of a 16-18 year old. i thought i was on top of the world when actually, i put my life in my own hands every time i put the key in the ignition.

mustangs look really tough on the outside these days but what is up with ford and their cheap interior? the dashboards are so cheesy looking.

Other than that they are mean lookin' machines

i've owned a lot of shiddy cars and possibly two of the worst ever. they also happen to be the two favorites...

the end ;)

the comedy involved is the randomness (word?) of thoughts of a 16-18 year old. i thought i was on top of the world when actually, i put my life in my own hands every time i put the key in the ignition.

i would be interested in seeing what my man, Olevet has to say about it lol.

Dude when yer 16 ANYTHING beats the leather express.
brings to mind My youngest son when he turned 16 and got his license:D
a dude I knew had a VW rabbit diesel ,Ugly MoFo. I asked Brent if he wanted it:D He says Dad , Does it have 4 wheels and run ? I said Yes , He said I want it :D
I bot it fer 75 bucks. The Main channel Cant call it a frame was rusted so bad. I had to take some channel Iron and drill and bolt it in place to keep the left rear wheel on :D . Like you he had a decent sound in it . He drove it for about 6 months till it caught on fire . him and his friend Bailed out and let it burn . He did get the Stereo out 1st tho .
I think Storeys wrecker hauled it off :D

I had a 76 Cutlass that was like that, the only thing holding that rusting POS together was the stereo.
One year a buddy and I were doing alot of fishing, and I had an itch to try some stink bait out that I had heard about, well I bought a jar of it but it never made it to the river....the ****ing thing busted in the trunk.
I never gave it much thought, I never gave it much thought due to the fact that we didn't get to the river that night, and over the course of the next few days....OH MY GOD DID IT ****ING STINK!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Daniel had taken a **** in the back.
By the time I sold that thing, the trans had all but gone out, the brakes were close to shot, it was running on 6 cylinders(it was a V8) and you could open the trunk from the gaping hole on the left rear quarter panel.
My uncle bought it for $75, I felt I had cheated him. :D

My high school car:

You may laugh, but I could cram about 9 people in that thing. Plus, the back bench seat folded down 180 degrees flat...perfect for making The Secks.
