I just did it. Who else has?

I only had to wait in line for about 30 minutes.

I detest early voting, and I refuse to partake. What if you find out that the candidate you voted for is actually a serial killer who eats babies and wears his victim's skin as clothing? How's that for an October surprise?

No, I vote on election day.

What if you find all that out the day after the scheduled election?

Voted by mail-in ballot a couple of days ago.

I'm sure that nobody is surprised I went straight D ticket this year. ;)

Thank you for exercising your right to vote.

SicEm, I know that you really think that low voter turnout is a good thing and that the franchise should be more restricted than it is now. To me, early voting is something that makes it easier to vote, which makes it a good thing.

And truly, should either John McCain or Barack Obama eat a baby on national TV between now do you really think their numbers are going to move that much? Even if they don't wipe their hands?

There's nothing you can do about that, but you can do something about voting early.

I pledge to vote for the first candidate that actually eats a baby on live TV!

So long as they promise to wipe their hands, I'm down with that.

Perhaps we could have debate #4-baby-eating contest format.

I don't think a lot of people would be all that surprised to see a Republican eating a baby on national TV.

I wouldn't be only if the baby were poor or Mexican. ;)

In and done. Early voted on Friday aft. Waited about 20 minutes.
I was surprised to see more options on this ballot than in the primaries here in TN. I don't think Nader was an option on my primary ballot.

Nader wouldn't have been on a primary ballot unless he had a primary opponent.

Nader was on the Primary ballot here. They give a combined primary ballot for everyone but the GOP.

Frozen Sooner

Actually, he wasn't. There is a combined primary ballot for the Libertarians, Greens, Independents, and Democratic primaries. You just vote whichever person interests you-it's an open primary system. The GOP has a closed primary, so you get a ballot with only GOP candidates if you are registered GOP. You can also request the combined ballot if you're registered Republican, but you can't get the Republican ballot if you're registered any party other than Republican. But you can if you're registered independent.

Make sense?

Right.

Poll watching on primaries is fun.

Oh, and presidential primaries are handled in February. Dems use a caucus, Republicans use a ballot. Greens and whatnot are just happy to get on the ballot.

Who in the hell would come up with a system like that?

Blame the Republicans. We used to have a totally open primary and they'd just use one ballot that they gave to everyone and said "Go to town, vote for whoever interests you." The GOP sued, though, because they wanted a closed primary.

I have never heard of a half open primary. Guess you learn something new everyday.

i voted yesterday. i used to be an all for voting day and the ritual type guy, but 04 and 06 standing in line for an hour at the local polling place made me a "vote while you can" type of guy.

what i didn't like was one of the pollsters slapping an "I Voted" sticker on my suede jacket and part of the adhesive won't come off.

No, I vote on election day.

I usually vote on election day, but...

many polling places in Harris County are experiencing 3+hour waits to vote. I was driving by the library this morning, the line was short, so I took advantage. After I get off work at 5:00 on election day and make my hour long commute home, the last thing I want to do is wait two or three hours to cast my ballot.

I voted Republican so I have nothing to worry about with regards to serial killers, etc. However, I can understand the Dems waiting to see the list of terrorists and socialists to whom their candidates are connected. ;)

I voted at the Barbara Bush Library, only 45 min wait.

Who I voted for, well, nunya.

Freakin backward Kentucky only permits early voting with cause - i.e. out of town on business on election day, etc. Otherwise I would have voted by now.

Early voting is one of those factors unique to this election. Experts say this Prez election will have by far more early voters than any prior election, and a majority of the early voters are Democrats who support Obama. Also, a lot of younger voters are casting their ballots early. It's hard to say, but the high level of early voting may influence this election more than any other factor, like the Bradley effect, and it would certainly help Obama.

Sent in my absentee ballot for my very first Presidential election ever today! Voted straight GOP except for one guy running for a place on the Texas Supreme Court, but only because his name is Sam Houston :D
