And it's about damn time!
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/11048119

No one is going undefeated.

The SEC and Big 12 are going to cannibalize each other. That lets the likes of USC, Oklahoma and, gulp, Ohio State back in the door. Get used to it. We've all been here before. What was it, 10 months ago?
If you remember, that was the season from heck when two losses didn't necessarily eliminate anyone.
So buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Nope, no one is going undefeated. Except Tulsa (http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/teams/page/TLS), one of the least regarded of the nine remaining unbeaten I-A teams. Little ol' Tulsa, 7-0 and coming off the most startling result of the season. Not the best or most impressive, the most startling.

The struggle now is not so much in getting to the automatic qualifying standard of top 12, it's competing with the four other non-BCS schools in the BCS. No. 11 Utah and No. 12 Boise are among the top 12. TCU debuted at No. 14. Ball State is percentage points behind Tulsa.
"I'm not surprised where we're at," Graham said. "On the other hand we haven't done anything yet."
Without saying it, Graham's idea is to score (or scorch?) his way into the headlines. Win so much and by so much that the pollsters who read those headlines cannot ignore them.
He is Tark with a football. He doesn't give a damn about feelings or records or the establishment. He is Mike Leach without the Pirate fetish.

HEH!:D

Mike Leach w/o pirate fetish

I would disagree, as Leach has yet to try to get out of Tech, whereas Graham jumped away from Rice as quickly as possible.

Must be the pirate fetish holding Mikey back :D

Actually, Gus Malzahn is Mike Leach without the pirate fetish. Graham just stands there and rubs his hands together gleefully. :D

Believe me, I am counting down the days, and hopeful that the Sooners (and others) will put me in a position for a revenge bet... in this season (football) or the next (basketball)

Sorry, you must be ranked No. 18 or higher to be talked about here :D:D:D:D

Ooo! Ooo, here's another!

Sorry, you must be a conference under consideration for a national title in football.

Wait! Wait! I have another!

Sorry, there can only be two Oklahoma football teams in Oklahoma football talk at any given time.

Ok... they're getting weaker... let me try one more practice toss:

Sorry, no teams with point totals over 70 per game shall be acknowledged this season.

Rim shot! Fine... one more lousy attempt:

Sorry, no teams with any of the following letters deserve any respect from here on out: "U," "T," ... that is all.

 Ok, FINE. We can talk about Tulsa.

I live here, after all. :)

Heh, true but when someone mentions Gus..all I see is Doc Emmett Brown.

[talking about the TU Offense]
Marty McFly (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000150/): [looks through a camcorder] This is uh... This is heavy duty, Doc. This is great. Uh, does it run, like, on regular unleaded gasoline?
Dr. Emmett Brown (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000502/): Unfortunately no, it requires something with a little more kick - the no-huddle.
Marty McFly (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000150/): Uh, no-huddle? Wait a minute. Are-

Marty McFly (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000150/): Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear?
Dr. Emmett Brown (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000502/): Hey, hey, hey. Keep rolling. Keep rolling, there.
[Marty raises the camcorder]
Dr. Emmett Brown (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000502/): No, no, no, no, no. This sucker's all natural. But I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of offense I need.
Marty McFly (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000150/): Doc, you don't just walk into a store and-and buy this kind of playbook. Did you rip that off?
Dr. Emmett Brown (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000502/): Shhhhhh. nope, I ran that at Springdale. And then used it at Arky under a Nutt. They wanted me to build them an aerial bomb, so I took their Mitch Mustain and in turn, gave them a ****ty playbook full of used Steve Spurrier spread formations! Come on! Let's get you a radiation suit. We must prepare to load the scoreboard.

Heh.

I just hope they can hold off Arkansas. I really do want them to succeed, because I don't see them as a threat to OU at all (except last season... grrrrrr....) as far as recruiting and BCS bowl consideration.

I really think that this year, multiple undefeated mid-majors end up BCS bowling. I want one of them to be Tulsa. If there are to be two, I would definitely want the other to be Utah, because they have cute fight song (U-tah U-tah U-tah U-tah U-tah U-tah U!) and they aren't Boise State.

I have little doubt Tulsa will overmatch Arky, rest assured of that.
I just got the worst feeling after I read that Badger, what IF....OU ends up playing in the F'N Fiesta Bowl....against another Cinderella Story BCS buster......an undefeated Tulsa Golden Hurricane?

Oshi...........

I want our bowl tie-in to NOT be the Fiesta... can we trade the SEC for the Sugar? It solves two problems: Us going to the Fiesta every year, and LSU's homefield advantage in New Orleans.

I agree totally, but since the Super Dome is a cess pool can we move it somewhere less decrepit...a second game at the Cotton Bowl? :D

NO to second Cotton Bowl (remember 2001/02? Dallas is annoyingly cold in January), but the Jerryworld does sound intriguing.

I never actually stopped talking about the 'Cane. I just had to scroll past a lot of crap to do it.

Anyway, my biggest fear now is laying a huge egg on national TV this week against UCF. I'm always nervous before every TU game 'cause as I told someone at the tailgate Saturday, they're good enough to win every game, and good enough to lose every game. As long as the defense keeps showing up to any noticeable degree, we should run the table.

Yeah, one thing I noticed is that UTEP was using quite a bit of misdirection(ala Boise in the FIASCO bowl)and TU had trouble adapting to it..it seemed to be the biggest weakness so far, they have made good tackles..haven't overrun assignments..but tend to get beat on the deep pass.
Stopping the run is also one of the teams great strengths.
I just cannot believe how much better the TU run game is, damn...it's awesome compared to when Rader was at the helm. pass.pass.pass.pass.pass.pass...oopsie, run. pass. pass. pass. pass. pass. kick.

It's also better than... your mother ;)

Seriously, though, they are at different stages in their careers. Leach is in one stage - the stage of "midrange big conference coach receiving offers to move up to perennial big conference team," whereas Todd is at the "mid major perennial coach may soon receive offers to move up to midrange big conference team."

Todd kind of lateral-moved when he went from Rice to Tulsa... not that I blame him. The worst that could happen with that move would be Rice's band saying that he's in the 10th circle of hell or something oddball like that.
