ok, sometimes I think news reporters should find a better way to say things.

I hope the family gets past the funeral and a decent period of mourning before they start hearing from PI lawyers. :O

God that was awful, prayers for his family....all they have to do is tell the story but to show his body is a bit much.
What a great thing for his family to see on the news.

I use one occasionally to get to some high spots.

I don't recommend moving it with the boom extended all the way out...

Hell...I don't recommend moving it with the boom out at all.

If you use one of these...be very careful.

This video from OKC is why.

Prayers for the Family.

I used one also, there was a customer who's cable was out last thursday and I had to see what was going on. I carry 3 ladders, a 24ft..an 8ft extension/step ladder and a 4ft step ladder.
I couldn't get the 24 footer into the backyard due to construction work being done on the creek behind the customers house...the creek was torn up and there was a temporary fence I couldn't get the ladder thru or over.

The foreman told me to get on that Genie lift and he would take me up to inspect the cable connections...it wasn't something that I would care to do again since we shifted the machine close to the loose soil close to the bank and then he shifted the bucket out over the creek to the pole.
I'm not afraid of heights but after I got back down, I felt alot better...we were only 30ft in the air and swung out 16ft but it was enough that it made you thankful for being on the ground.

I will never do that again unless I need to.

OSHA requires 100% tie off on those lifts...

On a vessel a worker go his jlg lift stuck while it was booming up. It got stuck on structure, he wiggle it free, and it catapulted him from the tension on the arm...

We had a guy get run over buy one of those, warning sirens weren't functioning.

I'm sure they covered him up, there were lots of people standing around gawking..people in the parking garages looking down, etc. yuck.

Thats why when we replace aerial CATV cable, that we cut the drop cable from the house first rather than at the main line, there have been cases where the worker cut it from the main line and gave the "slingshot" effect to the ladder and threw the worker from the ladder, thankfully alot of them were using fall arrest gear or they would have died.
