I agree 100%. I saw the kid kick when he was at Union when I watched Union on t.v. a few times.
The boy can kick. I'm all for pulling the redshirt if he's consistent and down the middle on extra points. I've been nervous all year on every extra point we kick.

Actually, on a dare from one of my football buddies in high school...I did kick a 35 yarder (with defenders coming for me).

If its true that Stevens is the first kicker that Bob has given a scholarship to, then that is just sad. Pull it immediately and make room to offer it to a high school recruit. That or give it to guy that kicked off today....some real solid kicks and no KRs for TDs. But why did Stevens kick off late in the game? It sure didn't work out very well for field position.

So what happens if you pull his redshirt and he starts dropping off 35 yd punts or misses a few kicks, then we just wasted a year for nothing. Bob knows what he is doing and will do whats best for the team. The kickoffs looked alot better yesterday, the punting game is horrible. Stevens is ok I think, we will see with him

Remember a couple years ago when oregon states kicker missed 4 or 5 fgs against LSU to lose them the game and he ended up being an all american, not to say that stevens will do that but he is young and hasnt had many chances...id like to see what happens instead of jumping ship already

As long as Stevens is willing to suit up, he should keep his scholarship. A deal is a deal. Of couse, that doesn't mean he should play.

Bob has given scholarships to many other kickers. He will keep his scholly. You don't see 3rd team guys at any position losing scholarships. Not the way it is done.

Yeah, I was a little hasty with the pulling-the-scholly comment. Im just frustrated because we may have to count on him to win a game. I saw him play in high school and though he does have a decent leg, his accuracy is lacking. One game I watched, he was like 1 of 3 and none were from any considerably long distance. He is a freshmen and he will likely get better. But he is the man right now now and needs to play like an upper classman.
