new balance

for me because they come in wides

if you're really serious, you can do a foot template to determine your arch, and then go from there

honestly, I wouldn't have her pick up a pair for you, go to the store and try some one and walk around in them. NB has a lot of model and a lot of different padding styles.

Personally, the only shoes i'll buy anymore is new balance or vans. I bought a pair of nike's a couple months ago, they're in the closet because just not comfy enough.

I've had real good luck with Asics.

I've tried Nike, New Balance, Lord knows what else. But my arches are so high, at least off the shelf varieties of everything I've tried have sucked nards. Asics, at least the last pair I bought, had the highest arches in every shoe I tried on. The soles have lasted longer than every pair of Nikes I've ever had. They're actually wearing down, not separating.

I've had similar experiences to TF with the Asics. They're all I buy anymore. Better arch support. Longer lasting soles. Longer lasting cushioning.

New Balance has no arch support. You have to buy inserts if you want any support at all. I've never had any luck with them lasting very long either. In my experience, Nike shoes are the worst in terms of lasting any length of time. Some models just seem to fall apart.

I like NB and Nike but Vet, I bought some Solomon Tech Amphibians a couple months ago and they are already my favorite pair of shoes, all-time, ever. Equally comfortable running or walking. They have lots of other models I haven't tried on but I highly recommend trying Solomons.

This is why it's always best to try them on and spend time in them.

everyone has different arches and all shoes vary in arch support

Asics, accept no substitute.

Actually, do a South Oval search for Asics. There's a long thread in here somwhere about running/walking shoes.

That's an interesting comment because my feet are damn deformed and the only shoe's I can wear are ECCO's and New Balance. The submarine metal decks drove me to NB and my career introduced me to ECCO. Now Vet, I wouldn't recommend ECCO because they are dayum expensive, but you should do well with the New Balance.

Back to the comment above...Van's are like the flattest shoe made. They seem diametrically opposed to NB. My daughter managed a Van's store in NorCal and I tried to get some pairs at a huge discount but just couldn't wear them...deformed feet and all.

'Course, if OV was to be skateboardin' around Green Country...

The shoes that have worked well for me are Asics and Brooks. I like the pair of Brooks slightly better than Asics.

Some of it really just depends on your foot/stride.

Oh, and avoid Nike. They do not make good walking/jogging/running shoes.

Seriously, Asics. Great shoe, and a good motivational acronym. They are the shoes that convinced African marathon runners to start wearing shoes.

NB are far more comfortable to people with low arches
(that's why i wear them and vans, i have lowish arches)

Asics are generally build for higher arches

either company, kicks nike's *** in terms of comfort and quality

Actually, I dig Puma, but the soles are a bit narrow for me. I always wind up sort of walking on the side of the shoe.

And oddly enough, I have VERY flat feet, but I like Asics a lot better than New Balance.
