Not a whole lot of news but this is significant. Stoops is also finally showing a little emotion and frustration.

Stoops said OU would replace four players on its kickoff coverage. He declined, however, to name the players being replaced or the new players who will join the unit.

OU has allowed two kickoff returns for touchdowns this season. The Sooners rank 109th out of 119 Football Bowl Subdivision teams this year in kickoff return yardage defense, allowing 25.3 yards per return.

"It's terribly inconsistent and aggravating," Stoops said

Yea, good move. I like how Stoops said we've got guys out there who are afraid to tackle, that's a lot like saying you've got wolves afraid to eat meat, no place for it at OU.

i hope they are crazed, psycho, human projectiles ... maybe even apocalyptic in their approach to destroying runbacks; :D

Unfortunately, what I've seen looks pretty consistent.

It least he's moved past "with as many times as we're kicking off, stuff is bound to happen eventually".

It really makes you miss guys like Allen Patrick and Gute. Those two were beasts on special teams.

Don't forget Lewis Baker. He caused havoc on special teams.

Gute was the epitimy of what a student athlete should be. Great ambassador for his school/program, excellent work in the community, one of the most selfless players a coach could ask for. Oh yea, and he played with tremendous heart and busted his tail on every play. I watched the replay of the 05 Baylor game and it just reminded me how great he was.

I honestly think we should just kick the ball out of bounds on the sidelines.

Can our kicker kick it all the way to the sideline?

True. He was a beast, my roomates and I used to just laugh at how he'd light people up in '03, especially on kickoffs. And Gute was good as well, partially because nobody could see him on account of his height. ;)

I agree, he was crazy on special teams. One of the best IMO

One surefire way is to jerk a red shirt off a kicker that can put it in the endzone.....

I love watching Dennison. The dude was a monster. This guy wasn't the best defensive player, but awesome on special teams. He knew one thing....he was gonna light someone up, and on kick-offs, he was going through people to the ball if needed. He probably envisioned the return man slapping his momma before the kick. Then it was on.

If Tress Way were the better kicker Stoops would have already done this, if at anytime this year he is the better kicker Stoops will play him

Yeah, I don't think Bob holds onto kicker's redshirts too dearly.
