Orange Power was drooling last night over the fact that unlike the Gooners, Okie State is still in control of its own destiny.

I have decided not to respond to that with the quaint remark that "If, OSU does indeed, control their own destiny and maintains said control up until the end of the season, but OU does not lose, would that not once again place OU and OSU both in control of each of their own destinies at the so-called Behdlamb game?"

:D I imagine a few heads would explode and ones that don't explode will be too in shock to discover that Pokes do not, in fact, bleed orange, but deep, deep crimson.

I would cry more about this, but the sad fact of the matter is that USUC won this week and we did not. I would also cry about the fact that our loss was to a far greater team, but alas, there once was a stipulation in the BCS for quality wins, but there never was, in fact, a stipulation for quality losses, because losing is losing and it always sucks, whoever the opponent is.

I suppose I probably could have said it more when we were No. 1 (but dang it, that No. 1 ranking looks so shiny and pretty!) that rankings right now do not matter, nor will they matter until December. I really, really want to get a chance to beat the naysayers from now till December to get back that No. 1 seeding... even if it truly doesn't matter until December.

Well, USC lost two weeks ago and has two decisive wins since then, and Tech is undefeated.

We, on the other hand, lost yesterday.

Need anything else explained? Like why fire burns, or water is wet?

I didn't post it originally, but just added it: Tulsa is once again on the outside looking in. They rest at No. 26 in both USA Today and AP.

Poor Tulsa :(

Oh wait... Tulsa won yesterday :mad:

Florida lost in more recent history than USC. If you check the schedules, you will see that a Thursday game vs. Oregon State predates a Saturday game vs. Ole Miss.

There's an old saying, something like "uneasy is the head that wears the crown." Everybody guns for the one at the top, and I don't see Texas keeping that #1 ranking for long. We're still in a great position and if we do our job and win, I think it's entirely feasible we can make it back to the top by the end of the season.

would it be too much to ask for texas to die twice? You know, for tie breaker purposes.

Because USC is 4-1 and Florida is only 5-1.....oh..nevermind.

I'm really not worried about being ranked behind USC at this point and being left out of the NC game. If we win out and beat KU,TT,OSU as well as our win against TCU who might finish in the top 25 we will finish not only way higher than USC in then computers but I think we likely jump them in the polls.

Of far greater concern is how do we run the table at this point while replacing the leader of the defense.

USUC's rated higher because they play in a better conference - after all the pac10 has beaten the "best conf" the MOUNTIAN WEST ONCE (OUT OF 8 GAMES).

Good point. Of all the possibilities to rearrange our D personnel for Reynold's absense, who is most likely to fill in the middle? Hard to believe that we weren't ready for this scenario, given the importance of Reynolds and the risk of his previous injuries.

These attempts at "when you loss last" are pretty foolish. Not saying it isn't real in the polls, but shouldn't be. So what when we lost or when USC lost? Oregon State = unranked. Texas = any questions?

In no way should USC be ranked ahead of us.

Polls aren't as bad as I thought. I still think the horns have weaknesses, as does Bama and Penn State. The world is not all of a sudden going to stop seeing upsets in college football. These are here to stay. If some defense can figure out the horns are average at running and just have two receivers they can stop them. Defensively, the horns still suck against the pass.

We will get our shot to move back up. But I am not seeing a win in Stillwater this year. Not with our defense.

**** **** ****, dropping OU to 6 while making the horns #1..even though 'Bama didn't play and when they did Kentucky tried to drive the ball up they're collective asses they dont deserve to be jumped, polls are a beauty contest that should not be contended until 3 week remaining in the season...until then its nothing more than a **** waving contest.

yes ... good to see we didn't fall that far; it is sooo very difficult to like usuc, the media bias has become unbearable;

i like it that someone here (rock hard corn frog) asked the question for our D ... need to turn it into a thread if it already isn't one; implication is that we need to focus on winning out; with all the team talent bob has i hope the coaches can get insightful enough to work in different things to supplement our weaknesses; it could be a long season otherwise;
