View Full Version : OU/texass Series Record In YOUR Lifetime...

Lets do something different. When people talk about the series record of this game as a whole, it usually ends up being modified to the record within the past (insert whatever number of years to support your argument here) amongst both OU fans AND texass fans. And yes, texass fans, I know what the overall record is, as we all do. But lets make it a tad more of a unique discussion. Rather than texass fans saying they've won "2 of the last 3", or OU fans saying they've won "6 of the last 8", etc... lets take a look at the series within our own lifetimes. Go to:

http://www.soonerstats.com/football/series/details.cfm?OppID=7

and tally up the win/loss record starting with your DOB. What's the series record in YOUR lifetime? I was born in 1978 (5 days before the game that year). The series record in my lifetime is deadlocked at a tie:

OU: 14 wins, 14 losses, 2 ties

For me, this years game serves as a tie breaker with regard to the series record since I've been around. What a great rivalry we have! Doesn't get much better than that!

Born in 1986, so OU: 11-10-1...although the Smellsofbourbon tie might as well be a loss.

I think you're in luck. Not only will we tie it up this year (for YOUR series record, anyway), but we'll also score our 30 thousandth point in this one! Kinda makes it even more special for you, eh? ;)

Born in '82: the year of Dupree. OU is 13-11-2 against Texas in my lifetime.

How many of you guys are geeks like me and can rattle who won each game and the score without the assistance of Soonerstats? Yeah, I got laid A LOT growing up for that ability.

yall seeing what I'm seeing? This series is pretty much a dead heat for as long as anyone can remember. Texas padded the series lead before they used helmets and facemasks...

Don't want to do the count. The late 50s and most of the 60s were awful. I'm certain the tally would swing toward Texas. I don't want to know for sure.

I just want another W on Saturday.

Born in May of '71, but I refuse to accept the tie in 1984 when Keith Stanbury intercepted the pass in the endzone. So the real series record in my lifetime is:

20-15-2

Thanks, oilerfan. I don't have to do the math. We've already got a winning record. Let's stretch that lead this year.

1972 BD for me. My mom's regular DR. was out of town because he was at the OU-Tex game! (supposedly, I'll have to do some research) I was born on Friday the 13th. Almost every year we celebrate my birthday as part of our OU-Tex watch party. Good stuff!

I think the record is 17-15-3
