BUSH RESIGNATION SPEECH

The following 'speech' was written recently by an ordinary Maine-iac [a resident of the People's Republic of Maine ]. While satirical in nature, all satire must have a basis in fact to be effective.

This is an excellent piece by a person who does not write for a living.

The speech George W.
Bush might give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time.

If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore.

I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit.
Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you:
There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.

I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world.

Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours.

And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil' thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied...People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy.
Bet you didn't know that, did you?

Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan , a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel .
Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die.

That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are..They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.
'

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well Fed Ex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream of) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it.

Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America .

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.

PS - You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran.

Do you really consider yourself qualified to even comment on his understanding of reality and his intellectual curiosity? Do you speak to him personally or something or have some special insight nobody else does?

W looks/speaks dumb without a doubt. However, I do not believe he lives in Na Na land like so many of you leftistas try to claim.

just accept it and get on with what you like best...the open wheelhouse of ripping Clinton/Obama. that's your good times, Newt and Limbaugh invented it for you. go for it.

Look, it seems pretty clear that Dubya is not an "ideas" guy and has even expressed the fact that he doesn't do "nuance". To me this expresses in no uncertain terms that he is an intellectual lightwieght. He seems to have a worldview that is expressed in the most simplistic of terms. Instead of reading Niebuhr he reads Joel Osteen.

I would contend that Dubya's leftist policies are in fact right out of Na Na land.

I voted for him twice and I think he's a moron. He sold Conservatives out a long time ago. If Obama wasn't such a weak *** candidate, I'd probably vote for him because McCain isn't much better than W.

Well, doesn't the door swing both ways?

If George does actually know what's going on, which he may, then why do so many believe that Obama doesn't or can't do well?

I still have no idea who I'm voting for, but George Bush may not in fact be dumb, which I don't think he is, but he is not a public speaker and I believe he doesn't give a rat's behind about any of us.

Good comments Thunder. Except I didn't vote for him either time and I think he's a moron. And no, McCain, at this point, is not much better. I think he's a crazy old man. Now maybe that's a good thing, I don't know but I do know that Obama isn't much better.

I normally know who I'm voting for by now, but I do not know in this election yet. I don't trust any of them and I know no matter who gets elected that they have a ton of stuff to clean up in 4 years or they will not get re-elected.

Yes, Clinton worked well with the GOP and were able to balance the budget. I think they both worked off of each other and managed to have us in a good place financially and economically.

Not sure about Reagan. I was a little young to understand those times. I only hear each side's view of him.

Not to say that the Democrats that are in there are helping matters. Because they clearly aren't, but I would say Washington as a whole right now is failing all of us, not just one party or another.

Reagan had a Senate majority for a bit, and faced a House opposition for his entire time in office. He was able to use his personal popularity to court sympathetic Dems into voting for particular legislation. He was good at it, and didn't think of Dems as an enemy. Despite of what I might personally think of Reagan's policies or of the man, I can objectively see that he accomplished things by reaching across the aisle. Something Bush has almost no penchant whatsoever for doing.

God, I would hate to see what you would say about him if you were a democrat.See, that's what you don't get. SOME people can be free thinkers and not let their party affiliation get in the way of their Patriotism, their intellectual honesty and their opinions.

If I was a Dem, which I'm not, my opinion of Bush would be the exact same.

BUSH problem was that he tried to work with Liberal Democrats ( the way he did in Texas) the Problem is the the Liberal democrats in Washington are two faced snakes who deserve more than I am willing to suggest here. RULE 1 NEVER EVER EVER EVER WORK WITH YOUR ENEMY!LORD. That's just IDIOTIC.

Yeah. Poor Bush. He "tried to work with the Liberal Democrats in Congress." He should have had them all lined up and shot for being un-American.

Oh I ain't calling him "good" necessarily, I'm just saying he's not anywhere near as "tragic" and "awful" and "taint sucking" as you lefties try to paint him. Listening to many of you guys kinda feels like everything - from 9/11 to Iraq to Afghanistan to Iran to gas prices to the bailout to global warming are all his fault. Alone. Individually. All by hisself he took this country and put it in the ****ter.

This is wrong on EVERY level, and completely unfair.

But it's hard to blame you guys cause it's all we hear when we turn on the tube or pick up a magazine or newspaper.

And McCain will lose for trying the same tact. Saying he's putting Demo's on his cabinet...there goes the base.

No mon ami, I'm a centrist. You are a lefty. My only issues are abortion (it's wrong), guns (leave em' alone), welfare (it's supposed to be a hand up, not a hand out), free healthcare for worthless **********s (sell your bling and buy some insurance), and legalizing gay marriage (**** whoever you want whenever you want, just don't ask me to sanction it). And while I do think your crotchity old mannish behavior is based on truth, I think you exaggerate it for the sake of humor quite often.

You realize that you almost always side with the most extreme far right posters on this board. You also know that anyone who is even moderately left is considered a "lefty" to you, even if they are quite moderate in their beliefs (as I am.)

I could go into specifics just citing your espoused beliefs in your last post, but it's unnecessary. You know I speak the truth.

Shocking, you blame the Dems for Bush's god-awful mess of an administration.

Reagan and Clinton couldn't follow Rule #1 and look how that turned out.

Reagan was the master communicator and used the Bully Pulpit so the dems in congress really had no choice but to go along with him. Clinton had to deal with losing congress and basically still never worked with the republicans to achieve anything. although he did try to make a lot of their ideas look like they were his. he just didn't come up with them until he had lost congress.

They're all to blame. Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd and all those congressmen who were taking money from the financial sector in exchange for their total lack of regulatory control. Bush for his idealogy that any regulation is equivalent to communism and that uncontrolled markets always lead to prosperity and never result in widespread corruption. Politicians everywhere who got drunk off of the wealth-effect, increased home ownership rates, and increased tax revenue from the housing bubble and willingly and shamefully ignored the storm that had been gathering offshore for years and years.

I believe in sensibly regulated markets and I don't think that makes me a communist.

RUSH LIMBAUGH is my clone!

T. Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd and all those DEMOCRAT congressmen who were taking money from the financial sector in exchange for their total LACK OF REGULATORY CONTROL.

I think you sorta have it BACKWARDS. What those Democrats did is kill 2 birds with one move. They IMPOSED A FOOLISH REGULATION, in effect, when they forced the lending institutions to make housing loans to totally unqualified buyers, 1) in order to buy more votes, and 2)REPARATIONS, BABY!!!
