View Full Version : Red Rivarly Rivalry at night?

Does anyone know why this game is always played during the day? I think this game would be even more electric under the lights in the Cotton Bowl. The best matchup of the day shouldn't be played at 11am. This game should be on at primetime!

Sigh, someone go ahead and ask where we can get a Boomer Sooner ringtone and get it over with.

The reason it is early is because the Cotton Bowl and Police Department request for it to be early. The common belief being A) the people will be less drunk B) That part of the city has crime issues and pumping at least 40,000 REALLY drunk people will stretch the police department more than it already was.

I would love that but..........it will never happen......Too much time to prime the engine to have that game during prime time.....Can you see the guys at the "bar of soap" across the street from the fair at like, 1 o'clock drinkin and watchin football then around 5 o'clock head over to the Cotton Bowl for the game.......No that is never gonna happen in Dallas at the State Fair. They have these things called families at the fair and there isn't enough security in the daytime much less 90,000 emptying into darkness.

Would be cool though. And yes I would be at the bar of soap.

I guess that makes sense, but I sure would like to see them try!

I have no idea the exact percentage, but I would guess 80% or better of the fans have to travel for this game. A night game would cause significant problems for a lot of people due to the travel aspect. I would also not be interested in being in the Fair Park area after dark. I prefer the game to be played during the day.

Ask Dean the how much more beer is consumed at the 6:00pm kick-off tailgate than at the 2:30pm tailgate.

I personally think Colt McCoy over sleeps Saturday Morning, and misses the bus to the game.

It's the alcohol. Not a chance in hell they could set this game for 6 or 7. I couldn't imagine the reprecussions of something like that happening. I am one of the most easygoing people out there, but after 7-8 hours of beer drinking and listening to screaming horns, who knows what i would do... much less everyone else lol

Their fans have been all over our board this week. Pretty obnoxious. A couple of good seasons and all of a sudden they know everything about football.

Yeah, that and people would be drinking all day, and it could get dangerous. Also, it's in a bad neighborhood.

The ONLY way that a night game would be considered is if it was moved to JerryWorld...so about a 2% chance of it happening.
