I'm Going with Matthew since we share a name, and I would be open to working for the IRS.

Peter, no brainer.

Any apostle that has the gonads to chop off a dude's ear for the sake of the Savior is money in my book. Plus he was a fisherman, and by cracky, I like to fish.

PAUL...No one has had a greater effect on western civilization than the greatest church-starter in history.

I understand the need for the other apostles to stay in Jerusalem in order to provide the early Jewish christians a "home base" for authority....but Paul couldn't sit on his rear and just write. He wore out the Appian Way going to the major cities of his day and teaching about Jesus. And he spent a lot of his writing time in prison cells. He even converted many in the household of Caesar! What a man...

Paul was an apostle, and would've been my pick.

If he'd been in the poll. :D

I figured it was pretty clear that this poll was focusing on the Twelve. You all can wait on Paul until I get to the what was your favorite Letter to... Poll.

Judas most closely adhered to the Will of God and fulfilled prophecy more than any other apostle.

Just sayin'.

this is the premise of Nikos Kazantzakis' novel, Last Temptation of Christ....though weakly remade as a Scorcese strikeout flick with a decent Peter Gabriel soundtrack. The Kazantzakis novel is really quite amazing.

the novel is much stronger than the film.

Doubting Thomas doubts this thread goes any further than "peter" jokes.
